Having been to Pia Bella for the past 3yrs, we wont be going again, its looking quite run down, it was very cold and draughty. We had to ask that the fire be lit next to reception because everyone was frozen. All the ex pats were put in an annexe this year for the gala dinner ? we asked the manager why ? he said he thought we would prefer it ? we felt like second class citizens. Especially having just spent Xmas at Merit Crystal Cove, we were made to feel special the whole time we were there and talk about luxury ! Pia Bella in my opinion is a fabulous summer hotel, lovely outdoor areas and pools. So if anyone knows anywhere else for new year please post it on here x

Someone mentioned the Savoy in the High street in Girne, they had good entertainment last New Years Eve. The Hotel Restaurant had a good write up recently in 'Cyprus Today' The Hotel is very oppulent I believe. Think its full name is The Ottaman Savoy.

At the Pia Bella the Ex pats and tourists were put in the breakfast area of the dining room, this was because the Turkish/Cypriots like to take their food over a longer period they like to rest between courses, we were compensated when we complained about the segregation with free drinks for the evening, as many bottles of Wine and drinks of spirits as we liked, we didn't complain about that. We were also close to the entertainment.

We prefer to spend New Year with the locals and not the ex pats entertainment(no disrespect intended at all). Last year we went to Martis on the corner opposite the tourist information office in the harbour. There was a couple of tables with english but other than that it was all locals, we had a great time, very good food, turkish dancing and everyone enjoying themselves, we then walked round to the Dome & got a taxi home. Brillaint night and certainly worth returning again this year.

Mindy did you go to Savoy last New Year? There was a night with Anna and Johnnie but they had to move to Malpas last minute because a ceiling had fallen in at Savoy. Malpas terrible for food but we had a great night otherwise. They do not advertise New Year over here until mid December unless the Brits are putting something on.
