The first time we came to TRNC we stayed in Alsancak, we liked it & used it as our base for our holidays from then on. At the time if you went east, it was not really built up, Turtle beach was just that a "Beach". When we decided to buy we looked where we knew & bought in Alsancak. It appears that quite a lot of people tend to gravitate to the place they went first & stick to it. So it is a matter of opinion. My opinion, for what it is worth "West is best". I have no doubt that others will disagree, but if you had asked north or south I know what the answer would be.

who cares, East or West, it's still part of this beautiful Island. We live West and love it but it wouldn't have mattered if we'd gone East. we would still have been happy.

Here's another vote for east. Lived out west for 3 months and it really didn't suit us...we are very happy where we are. Nice and quiet, everything works and still close enough to all the local amenities.

Hi all,

If you like Blackpool or Vegas, you will like West. If you like the yorkshire dales and small cornish coves you will like East. I love the east and wild horses wouldn't drag me down the mad mile to the west to live. It is all

down to personal preference and how you like to spend your leisure time.

The butler's wife - that's strange. I don't like either Blackpool or Las Vegas. I do like cornish coves and I have not had the pleasure to visit the Yorkshire dales, but I'm sure they're delightful.

We have a place in the West!

Lived 6 months in the East, now live in the West (Karsiyaka) freshest air on the Island, that came from a medical man. and he wasn't a quack before you say something derogotory Lol

We've just moved to Catalkoy but I don't know that I would say west is best. All areas have their plus/minus points.

Hi The Wicks,

Well it just goes to show theres no accounting for taste lol Just remember that the sun rises in the east and sets in the west. Mindy, I don't know about fresher air in karsiyaka it doesn't get any fresher than Esentepe when the wind blows. We won't fall out over any of this though, as I say it's all down to preference, which we should all respect.

So much of this whole coastline and countryside is fantastic, we love it when we go East to see our friends at Esentepe Villa, view is superb, but where we live in Baspinar is rated as one of the finest spots in TRNC. Our views are also out of this world.

Prefer this side for the water situ. and would not like to be close to the power station, due to the dreadful fall out from the Chimmney stacks.

Just enjoy it where ever you are. I would rather live in a tent here than a mansion in the U.K.

The Butlers Wife. The west does not vaguely resemble Blackpool or Vegus. Karsiyaka and the west for us.

Whistler,

The last time I took my relatives down through Lapta, they said exactly the same as me, that it reminded them of Blackpool. I sometimes think if we live in a place we tend not to notice the obvious after a while. The west is not for me but that doesn't mean that it doesn't suit lots of people and it is obvious you are very happy there.

I live on the coast road just past Esentepe and I love it but it would not suit everyone as it is quiet and peaceful and some people would find it to much. It is just as well we like different things, or it would be a dull old world.

those that live or hae bought in the East will like that the best and those that bought and live in the West will like that the best silly question really never the twain shall meet. we would all want to live in the same place otherwise. Each to their own .

east for me personally like it quieter, but hen I apprecaite and almost glad it doesnt suit all

i think its all very beautiful, i understand what someone said about the lapta strip. I live in lapta and cringe when we go home past it. However it serves its purpose for the hotels, bars casino and nightclubs there also the restaurants benefit from the hotels. Our choice was east but mr robb saw to that.Where ever you live enjoy what you have got. we have the same sun, the sea, my favourite the mountains. Have a great new year xxx

denny you are so right. I think god kissed me when I see Saint hilarion every night, then when i go home its usually late to see the mountains i look at every day as a silhouette, a back drop, then when i get out of the car i watch the stars. I have only once seen a skyline like it and that was in Perth Australia

We love the East, the quietness and getting to know the local TC farmers, who are really friendly and helpful. We appreciate all the shops and restaurants in the West and often make the long drive from Tatlisu for shopping expiditions.
