I have a close friend called Archie Jeffrey (now in his mid 60's) who lived in Bellapais in the 70's. Archie is ex RAF and around that time wrote a rock climbing guide book for the area which became the 'bible' used by climbers for many years.

Archie doesn't have a copy and it would be great to try and track one down for him. Can anyone help?

I'm afraid I don't know the exact title and Archie can't remember exactly what it was printed as. Best suggestion is 'Rock Climbing In Cyprus' although it deals mainly with the North. I've tried a range of online book sourcing services with no luck, so now it's down to hoping someone has a copy somewhere!

Try the Girne English library (behind the post office)

open Wednesdays & Saturdays 10am -12pm they are very resourceful there and may be able to help!

...all their books are donations so a copy may have ended up in there, you never know!

Really hope you find the book. Reminds me of that advert on the television from years ago

"Fly Fishing by J R Hartley"

He found a copy eventually - hope you do too

Archie's climbing days are over, but he still guides walkers on Ben Nevis. He doesn't know I'm searching so hopefully finding a copy will bring back good memories for him.

Graham

I emailed the guy in the link a few days ago, and whilst he knows the book he doesn't have a copy. He did give me a few leads that I'm following up however.

Hi Andy,

I have a copy of Archie's Guidebook with me! At the moment I'm repeating his ascents everytime I go back to Cyprus so I would love to meet him.

I can send you a copy if you have not found one yet, just let me know.

Could I get any contact with archie?

Duzinga, That's BRILLIANT !!!!!!!!!!

I'm in the UK but please contact me by either email or phone - +44 7766 281391

If you can send me a copy I'll gladly reimburse you for any costs involved. No problem with you having contact with Archie, but is it ok if I give him the book first as it's going to be a BIG surprise for him.

I can't thank you enough, this will really put a smile on his face.
