You cannot get fresh mussels in Kibris, not edible ones , but there are some good frozen ones around.

I still can't believe how barren the Med is at this end. Too hot, too salty, too stagnant. Where are all the shell fish? Where are all the crabs, crayfish and lobsters?

TRNCVaughn, our thoughts as well, going around the coast the seas look fresh and clean but no shellfish or any life around the rocks. The coast has a line of black rock, could this be any thing to do with it? is the mineral content to high, I am just curious. Does any one know why. lol

Why don't you buy some in the bag (with the sauce or without) from Tesco, Asda etc., Ok they are not live, but you can put in a cool bag in your case (which is kept in freezing temperatures in the hold) and they will be fine (still frozen) when you get to TRNC. I did this once for someone I know there with mussels and lamb shanks. Wrapped in ice packs (those blue plastic ones) all food was ready to transfer to their freezer.
