I have been told that to aquire a meter and electricity to my appartment in Lapta, first i need to get the permission of the Lapta Mukhtar in the form of a letter. Then take this to the Kibtec offices in Girne with my contract and passport. I know meters are in short supply and i am told i can still be connected but will be charged 110ytl a month until i get a meter. I don't see there is any other option but to get connected if i want to use my appartment in the near future.

Has anybody else had experience of this?

Sorry never heard of having to get permission from Muhkter before. Your Contract of Sale should be sufficient really. Ask the builder to help you.

I would agree with orangekazzie, all I needed was my contract and passport. However this is the TRNC we are in and anything can change from day to day. I think 110ytl a month is a lot of electric money. I would do a lot of talking to your builder to see if he can get a meter for you somewhere.

Hi Newboy, welcome to the site.

I agree 100ytl is an awful lot of money for a months electric. I assume they will be using emergency/builders electricity for that price.
