| We are in Catalkoy and have just done our garden ourselves last month so i can give you an idea of what we paid. The black membrane cost 212.50TL per metre and we bought mixed colour gravel of a medium size by the lorry load which was approx 20 ton at 380 TL per load. That should give you an idea of costs but where you would buy it Bogaz, I wouldn't know. |

| Just an Idea, My neighbour used the 1 Mtr wide rolls of thin roofing felt that they lay under tiles, and found it cheaper and much more effective against the weeds, I am very envious as weeds eventually find their way through the polypropolene, but not through this stuff!, so why not try it out? Nick" Nick The idea of membrane is that the rain can flow through it - what happens when a big downpour hits roofing felt?, my guess is a river of stones.... Mark |

| Hi Wattys, I,m at Yeni Bogazici ( Near the Zema Super Market) I used the same method on my Garden which saves me a hell of a lot of hard work, what I do know the The black membrane you need , you could buy on the salamis road at the small garden centre between Salamis Conti Hotel and Bogaz if your driving from Bogaz the small garden centre is on the right hand side.. I do not know what the price is ?as I bought mein with me from German which was ca 4 pound pro sq meter if you have problems buying the membrane I will be over on the 10th June depend on how many sq meters you need I would bring some with me for you ,no problem...as for the Small Stone I bought in the Village Yeni Bogazici 6 cubic meter ca 45 Tl.. | I definitely know from experience that the blck membrane lets the earth breath but it also lets the weeds grow through. A friend of mine who has a place here and lives in the UK has had this done last year and this year I have arranged a couple of guys to take back the gravel remove the large weeds and then apply a polythene sheet over the existing black one. I have already done this and it stops the weeds 100%. If you are going to lay the gravel on the top definitely do not use the black mebrane mesh type covering as it allows weeds to go through. Some people on the forum have argued that you have to let the soil breathe which is understandable but you will have to remove the gravel next year and relay just to take the weeds out. Get the thickest polythene sheeting you can find itr is usually 2.5tl a metre and opens out to 3metres wide. |

| Sorry Wattys, 212.50 tl was for a 100 mtr roll, I didn't read what I had written b4 hitting the send key! At the time of purchasing this worked out at £93 per 100 metres! We thought it expensive but visited 4 other places and this was about right. You can get cheaper but when you run your finger along the membrane it splits quite easily which isn't going to be so good to keep out the weeds. The rolls tend to be approx 100metres long and 2.5mtrs wide however sometimes the rolls are a little longer or a little shorter but Cagras in Karakum charged us accordingly as the manufacturer had put the length on the outer wrapping. With view of keeping the weeds at bay, we were told to make sure the gravel you put down is 8-10 cms thick this prevent the light from getting through to the ground and that is what the weeds aim for from beneath the membrane. But you are never going to get rid of weeds completely, they grow from seeds blown on top of the gravel |
