if on exchanging your UK licence for a KKTC licence you do not request that the valid driving catergories are transfered to the local licence then you will have to take a test for a 50cc and above scooter/motorbike, if you are organising a trip and want to rent and drive a minibus max 15 passengers then a test will also be required.

its a good job that they are strict on this issue and the lack of traffic accidents in the TRNC proves that the ministry of transport KKTC licence legislation works really well!!

All at bit bizzare, but hey over here everything is possible!!

Hi Aslan,

Would love to borrow your rose tinted specs ( lack of traffic accidents in the TRNC) wouldnt let the majority of locals loose in a pedal cart, I thought they got a licence here for turning up and the test centre not for taking a driving test. Worst drivers in the Med, and dangerous to the point of being suicidal.
