I know I have asked before on here but can someone tell me that's already had their car taxed lately how much it is, as I was told by someone the other day they were charged 1,600 tl. Does anyone know if this is correct.

Hi Parkview,

The best way to find out is to go down to the tax office in Girne with all your paperwork ie Log Book etc, & they will tell you there & then how much you will need to pay.

Ours last year was 700 odd. Went last month & was 1300 odd! I never heard about the price increase?

Mine went up from 800 odd YTL to 1400 odd YTL, thats nearly double the price from last time.

This is what I don't understand, a lady round the corner from me got her tax about 6 weeks ago and it was 800tl, it seems everyone is given a different price.

The system is now based on the weight of the car with the rate per KG charged increasing sharply as the car weight goes over a certain amount. There are also discounts for good driving without fines etc.



Small cars haven't changed much we paid less than $200 for a Mitsubishi Colt a couple of months ago but some large 2 tonne plus 4WD etc could be up to around $2000.

Just had my 1.6 Matrix taxed today last year 575tl today 820tl weight of car is 1300KG



I look forward to next year when if all goes well I can pay even more cash for my road tax.

Last year I paid 575 TL, but have been told that it had gone up to over 1,000 tl. Just wanted to find out before going in the tax office as they seem to charge what they like.
