Hi folks - I have a little place in Catalkoy and whilst some friends stayed there in April they had some cash stolen. Bit sketchy, but they think someone simply walked in and helped themselves while they sat at the poolside. They felt foolish as they had left windows unlocked and as it was not a lot of cash they decided not to report it, wrongly in my opinion - but eh.

Now to my point - can anyone help me source a reputable company who can help me make the place secure - ie. proper locks for patio doors and windows. I know it won't help if people don't shut them but it would give me peace of mind.

Thanks Trevor & Parkview - I won't be there myself 'til next week - can't wait - was really hoping to get a little man in to sort out.

Any other suggestions out there??

Hello, we have had window and patio door locks fitted by Serdar in Tin Pan alley, very reasonably priced but more importantly very efficient.

cks are fine but they can get into the house if they want to. An alarm would be the best option as it would alert you and scare the burglars away.

We have just had steel security locks fitted on all our windows & patio doors for an extremely reasonable price by Hussein at Hoyuk Aluminium in Catalkoy (Tel 05428523391) as recommended by Stuart Lowe. Best of all was that he fitted them the next day.

It was a lot cheaper than buying in UK at £18 each and fitting them ourselves, too.

Thanks to all of you for the suggestions - a recommendation is worth a thousand adverts! I'll try Hussain first as he is in Catalkoy and sounds reasonable and efficient - thanks crystallady.

There was some good advice given recently on this thread: -

http://www.cyprus44.com/forums/13326.asp

- which included my standard advice -

Alarm Box (Real or Dummy)

PIR Security lights (considerately angled re. neighbours windows!)

- and I have to say that there's nothing wrong with the idea of a camera - Real or Dummy

Extra Patio Window locks might slow them down, although they won't STOP them, they'll just cause more damage on the way in.

And the Ultimate Deterrent? A bloody big outside DOG, with a really good BARK - ideally belonging to your next door neighbour, so you don't even have to feed the brute!

Keith.
