Hi All,

We are travelling to Ercan Thursday night 20.55. (like all good Brit Stamp Duty payers should)

As it will be dark, and our first drive on this route, can anyone give us simple instructions please. Thanks in anticipation.

John and Julie.

Hi John

Is that your arrival time at Ercan, if so we are due in at the same time (Pegasus Stansted flight) have arranged collection by the Ship Inn where we have booked to stay - I'm sure they would not mind if you followed on.

Regards

Beths

Hi Beths,

I have just spotted the request I made was covered at the top of the page. Silly me!

We are on the same flight and would you believe it we also are staying at The Ship.

I have arranged car hire and the car should be at the Airport( although I am struggling to get confirmation) Your offer is most kind and we will follow you. Thank you. Is it your first time at The Ship?

Hi Spud!,

The Ship, but I know my way from Kyrenia. We are now covered thank you. We are going to follow Beths, who are on the same flight and stopping at the same hotel.

Thanks however for your offer of assistance.

Hi Wynyardman,

I have stayed at the Ship Inn and it is a lovely hotel, clean and the staff are friendly and helpfull. The food was very good when I was there and as I was on my own trying to furnish our bungalow, I ate there most evenings. You will soon find your way around and backwards and forwards to the airport. As a fellow northeastener I wish you luck with your villa and I hope you get all your problems sorted out soon.

Directions to Girne from Ercan:-

Leave the airport and continue down the dual carriageway road until you reach a large junction, (there is a huge flyover here) you need to turn left following the signs to Lefkosa (Nicosia). You will still be on a dual carriageway, continue along this road, you will soon reach the outskirts of Lefkosa, carry on for several miles (something like 17kms) until you reach a huge roundabout with a statue in the middle. You may see other signs to Girne before this large roundabout DO NOT FOLLOW THEM.

At this roundabout turn right (following the sign to Girne (Kyrenia)), you will still be on a dual carriageway, continue along this road for some 18 kms until you come to the outskirts of Girne. You will then come to a roundabout (this is the only roundabout you will encounter after Lefkosa). You are now in Girne.

It is a really simple journey

Hi All,

Thanks for all the advice and help. I think we are OK now and we will follow Beths.!

Pollytat, This is our fourth trip to The Ship. Not the poshest hotel in the world, but I have to say we have had four wonderful visits. I still E mail Zube, the head waiter regularly. What a great guy! Every time we have made friends, and we are meeting up again for a few Efes on this visit. Food faultless and at bargain prices for the quality and level of serviice offerred.

I have travelled extensively and I have never found a hotel so friendly, with a clientele that make repeat visits as this one In short, well run, friendly management and staff, great food, terrific swimming and leisure facilities. I can guarantee you will have a good time.

Oh well. I feel better with that off my chest.

Early to bed tonight. 5 hour drive to Stanstead 6 hour flight by Pegasus Airlines via Istanbul.

40 minutes drive from Ercan. 10.00pm Beer and skittles in the bar of The Ship.

Life certainly does not get better than this!!!!
