What would I need to do to earn EUR 790,000+

Hi, I'm wondering if anyone has any thoughts on what I would need to do to 'honestly' earn a salary of over EUR 790,000+?

Perhaps be in a position to 'save the world', perhaps 'own an island or two', or perhaps be 'an accountant'?

Swann earns £1.5m at WHS

20.11.08



W H Smith chief executive Kate Swann made £1.5m in the year ended 31st August 2008, up marginally on her previous year's salary of £1.4m. The remuneration included an annual bonus of £771,000.



Swann was easily the highest earner among WHS' directors, with finance director Alan Stewart coming in second on £762,000.



Over the financial year, group profit before tax and exceptional items was 15% ahead of last year at £76m. Total sales for the group were up 4% at £1.35bn, with like-for-like sales down 2%.

Thats almost £13,000 a week or £1800 a day or £75 an hour. Theres no honest way of earning that level of money for most people.

You need to be an entrepeneur or own a business/firm of some kind to earn that.

No career can earn you 790K.

Earnings like these are usually only found in big business. There is a point in corporate compensation, where failure is rewarded. Junior/middle managers are let go if they are no good with a months notice. Senior managers/directors are given employment packages which have golden parachute clauses written into them. I know of a Finance Director who was taken on with a golden hello (shares) and a salary of 250k. He lasted 6 months and was given a further 250k to get shot of him.

Once you start "earning" salarys of 800kEuro a year, you become virtually bullet proof.

Any reason why it is 790,000+ EURs? Seems rather an arbitary amount. Why not > 1 000 000 Eurs? ...or is that being greedy?
