One day my prof entered the class, took a chalk and wrote

Beauty*Brains=const.

He said the two couldn't harmony in one person. He thought we was very smart and he looked very very ugly.

Maqbs,

He was not a mathematician. According to that formula, if you have too much brains you have too little beauty or vice versa. Of course that is not true. Look at me, handsome and clever ha ha ha

Hi all,

If you read anything on sociology, you can find out very quickly why men and women are at odds.

Men...to be blunt want to "pass on as many of their genes"(we all know what that means) to as many young, good, healthy and fertile women as possible. Beauty is another key word for what they are trying to find.In other words they will do anything for a s**g with a goodlooking woman!Hence women's obsession for being beautiful and keeping young!

Women ... want a reliability to assist them with child rearing and material provision. So woman may well be minded to be attracted to a man with reliability as opposed to good looks if he can assist with a good standard of living and the provision of handbags and shoes presumably included! Hence men's obsession about being the"bread winner".and women perhaps going for a smarter men as oposed to I was going to say Greek God but perhaps that isn't appropriate here! you know what I mean though!

Seriously the subject makes fascinating reading.

I like kind, considerate people. If they are pleasing on the eye that is a bonus and if they can string more than two words together and make sense....billy double bonus!

Mixie,

This was supposed to be a lighthearted thread but your input got me thinking. I suppose the genetic makeup of men is such that they are after more pleasure and the hidden agenda may be to spread their genes widely but they do this not knowingly. Because in reality they don't want it.

I was listening to a genetics prof of Turkish origin with Harvard University last night and he was saying that some of our genes collect some thrills around them and they are passed on to the next generation. So if more and more women are becoming bread winners in our modern day living, are they likely to transform their genes slowly and become more like pleasure seeking men? Is there any evidence of this? Sociology may be even more interesting than psychology as a subject.

Elko- I have the evidence you are looking for. My better half is definitely a pleasure seeker! She derives great pleasure in lightening the burden of my wallet!

Twoexpats,

We have a saying in Turkish: "Yemeyenin yeğcisi vardır". It means if you do not spend it, somebody else will spend it for you.

So she serves you right. Go on lady, spend it all before he spends it on some miniskirts

Twoexpats,

I was not talking about you wearing a miniskirt and showing your hairy legs. I was imagining that you could run after somebody wearing those miniskirts with some nice smooth legs....

Ok, let us stop there before a moderator bans us. Inserting a smiley is quite easy really, you simply type : ) without a space in between or : ( or ; ) let me ry and see how it comes out :( ;)

Twoexpats,

Don't ask me about that, please refer to our inhouse expert "Pinkchilli" for that. See http://www.cyprus44.com/forums/15955.asp

I noticed that Pinkchilli is online at the moment, so I am bringing up this thread so that hopefully we may have his expert opinion on the matter

Msg. 18

The Wicks

"Sheila/Ismet - I find that good looks, brains and modesty can be such a curse at times! Don't you??"

I don't know about good looks and modesty but it is true for brains. I come across with so many absurd applications in government offices that I get fed up objecting to all of them. My wife keeps asking me "Are you the only person who is going to correct all the wrongs?" She does have a point but I can't help it. So brains can and is a curse for me but I enjoy it.

The other day I wanted to get a "B" license for my pickup and I had to obtain the application forms from Nicosia, why not from Famagusta? What is the District Office for? I wrote them a letter and they apologized but I bet nothing will change.

Fine denier stockings on long legs, and a modest thong carried between pert cheeks are no substitute for brains.

Nonsense.

That's the first time I have heard a thong desribed as modest!

A thong may be considered modest compared to nothing
