| At 16:30 this afternoon 28th May 2009 I witnessed what can only be described as the most idiotic and stupid piece of driving, a rental car passed the “Belediye” roundabout going into town at between 50 and 60 kmph almost hitting a pregnant citizen and her two colleagues on their way home, at the first corner he touched the brake which resulted in loss of steering and hit either the kerb or first sleeping policemen this caused the drivers side chassis to buckle and the car came to an immediate stop. I waited over 30 minutes for the police to arrive and locals were joking that the Lefke constabulary must be assigned to the case. I left and did see two police cars travelling to the scene in traffic, obviously the location and nature of the accident did not warrant blue lights! |

| Back to this idiot driver, I am not sure if he is in a cell awaiting court on charges of driving without due care, put the lives of citizens and visitors at risk, promoting the already tainted TRNC driver reputation, giving tourists yet another reason not to revisit the North. I hope this idiot gets a hefty fine, a one year ban from driving and has to be humiliated by writing an open apology in the official gazette and the local English paper the Cyprus Today along with paying out the insurance on the rented vehicle. If it can be translated and emailed to me I will pass it on to the authorities. |
