Problem is, wrong though it is, how many people would have done the same if we thought they could get away with it? It has been endemic in British politics for so long. It would be interesting to see the expense claims of the rest of the people in public office ... the MPs' expose might just be the tip of the iceberg.

The only way to resolve this farce is to publish ALL expenses paid to EVERY MP in the past few years and then have an immediate general election. Some of these people should face criminal charges, we would if we tried to do what they've done.

Sloan I totally agree with you. AndyR we would certainly face charges if we did the same so why should they be above the law. How can you steal from hard working people anf get away with it. I hope the media runs and runs until every last one pays back and the monies circulated to where it should be. xxxxxxxxxxxxx

Lilli, you are totally unfair. These hard working MPs only make totally legitimate claims and it is wrong for you to criticise. I bet you have claimed for more than one floating duck house, and don't tell me that both you and Guido don't claim the second home allowance. This is a witch hunt that has gone too far. Please remember that they are HONORABLE MEMBERS.

Loads of room for a restaurant, but not much custom apart from the Nasa remote vehicles. However, if you're lucky [and old enough to remember "The Eagle" comic], The Mekon might drop by, as well as Dan Dare and Digby. Everthing's a bit red though......... xxx

When this all kicked off, there was mention of police involvement. Suddenly that part of it has gone quiet. Why are these Honorable (horrible) people being allowed to get away with it. If one of us stole something, or committed fraud, we would not be allowed to give it back and all is forgotten, we`d get the full monty. Prosecution, imprisonment, pension rights revoked etc. etc. It will all gradually be swept under the carpet until Joe Public has forgotten. I sincerely hope they will vote with their feet when it comes to an election.
