I don't post on here very often but this evening I am very angry, very angry indeed.

Love him or Hate him. his recent attempts at being nice in the "Good evening all" thread were just smoke and mirrors.

DC you have upset many many people over the years on these BB, resigned, rei-joined, resigned again. Not once in the many years I have watched these BB have I ever seen you apologise to anyone.

Now we have this post from you on another thread which has been closed and quite rightly so. I will quote just three words, which I have translated accurately via the internet....

=> Nice one! Here's an old Dutch saying for you: "Krijg de ****"!

Which means.... "Get the Cancer"

What an absolute disgrace you are!

Anyone who says this, writes this or even thinks this, is despicable.

No doubt my post may be moderated, removed or I run the risk of being banned, nevertheless, I wish to express in the strongest terms, my utter distaste at your comments

Newscoop, for the majority of time, I do, I really really do, and your advice is very sensible, but on this occasion I am enraged. It is totally unacceptable. Where are the moderators? Why was this allowed to remain on the Board? I can accept that he does internet/web things for this BB, but that does not give him the right to behave in this manner. This is just my view, and I apologise now if that upsets anyone. I am not a touchy person, and I rarely post but my goodness how much will he be allowed to get away with?

Dutch - as you know, we are your 'friends' (if such a term is acceptable in cyber-space) and we have certainly accepted your support (gladly) and offered ours to you (willingly).

But, if this interpretation is accurate, I would sincerely urge you to retract it, forthwith.

Could it be (and I am reluctant to say this, everyone) a Dutch sort of colloquialism (spelling obviously incorrect), inasmuch as we might say "you silly bast..rd? Perhaps I'm clutching at straws here?

Kind regards and very much hoping for the best!!!

delonghi;

No way am I defending him after all the "remark" was aimed at me!

But I do feel that he craves the oxygen of publicity which at least partially explains his moronic behaviour.

We just have to accept that he doesn`t like us (the British) and treat him with the contempt he deserves.

Mr delonghi in his post # 1 should rethink his comments - he is completely wrong. Since he is anonymous on this board I can't mail him, but I don't hide my email address. Mr delonghi can send me his apologies if he wishes to do so.

Dutch I agree with cooper, both insult leave a nasty taste! OK we may not all be best mates on here but there should be a point where we draw a line regarding the insults.

For DC, Just my opinion.

I leave the irony hypocrisy, deception subtrifuge and sarcasm to those best suited to it.

So we have all accused Dutch of something, without most of us speaking or having little knowledge of his language, I know some struggle with the "Queens English". So DC I will stand up & say sorry. I just hope what you did say is not to bad?

Maybe the lesson here is to write the words you mean, if you think they are not suitable for theis forum then just don't use them. Hiding comments behind stars means you implied something that shouldn't be printed, in any language that is insulting and we all know it.

Regardless of which word you meant people will come up with their own words and then the war of words starts all over again.

RE msg 23, The_Wicks > So DC I will stand up & say sorry. I just hope what you did say is not to bad? <

=> You may have noticed that it is not my habit to use foul language on this board (all other accusations of bad habits are probably true...). I assure you that I would NEVER EVER say what Mr. delonghi in his message # 1 maliciously imagined. The old Dutch saying I used ("Krijg de ****") is common language in Amsterdam and is not bad at all. When newscoop used 'an old English saying' I thought it appropriate to use 'an old Dutch saying' in reply. Maybe someone finds out, otherwise I'll give the answer in this thread. First letter: j***

Final note; check the Dutch websites for the link to the big C, it is there you will find delonghis seemingly accurate interpretation.

By the by, what right has anyone Dutch or otherwise to call Hattikins stupid for giving an honest opinion?

I think we should have a vote on if we should allow letters to be missing from words, as in this case it has lead to people getting the wrong end of the stick. After all, we are only writing words that people say in common language, and if it's a swear word is it really that bad. I remember at school reading the book 'Kes' and on, or around, page 42 there are several swear words written down that quote one of the characters. As a young child I was confused as I was being taught by my parents and teachers not to use words like those, but they did me no harm in the end.

I go for an outright ban on any letters missing from any words.

Over to you....

Some people think they have the right to say what they want, when they want and in whatever language or starred methodology they wish to employ! They also love the idea of being 'important' on the BB and they see themselves as being above the rest! Whatever such a person says or claims to profess should be treated with disdain and simply ignored. Hopefully, that person will then go and find themselves another hole to go and dig in some other location and leave the rest of us to get on!

Wishful thinking? Well, yes maybe - but to give credit to such people by a response is to give them far too much respect! Just let it flow - water off a duck's back!

I'm all for using the star symbol to disguise a particular word, e.g s**t, rather than actually using the word itself. To write the word shit seems to be far more abusive to me. Or am I talking a load of c**p.

Agree Doyen in that context it is fine! But when used to insult others on the BB seems unwise!

By the way if you are talking c**P it's only 2 star C**P

A lot has been said since my original post. However, I came to MY conclusion (whether rightly or wrongly) by Googling the two words in Mr Crusader's original post on another thread. The dutch sayings recited there were in order of popular use.The one I recited being the most popular phrase in use, and there were numerous references to this, (not just one I hasten to add). Now, it is very easy after the event to explain away (with a completely different word), that this was not his true intent. We will never know. One thing I know is that my Google search revealed THE phrase that is clearly THE MOST popular used phrase of all sayings in Holland, and I did that search on the basis of Mr C's own comments.... "Nice one! Here's an old Dutch saying for you: "Krijg de ****"!" If the word omitted by the star symbols was not SO offensive, (and has been used subsequently) then why omit it in the first place? Whilst I have read what you have said Mr C, I remain unconvinced for the reasons above.
