| I am buying from Sea Terra and on the buyers/owners forum,we have just compared legal advice etc on such issues as stamp duty. Talat Kursat sees to have given good advice and saved quite a few people problems. He has an office in Girne and one in Lefkosa. His email is talatkursat.com his number is 0533 861 0033. Don't know whether he just deals with conveyancing or whether he covers Famagusta, maybe he could reccomend someone if not? Good luck AbbyG |

Give me a ridng if you like on 0533 862 9150 . ismet It has been proved, Ismet does know what he is talking about, and has helped every one with his efforts to make matters run smoothly, if he says he knows the best, then i would have to agree with him, even if it is his wife. | Naomi Mehmet has received some not too good reviews on this forum recently. It appears that she is very expensive and is fine until you run into problems and then she appears somewhat out of her depth. Emails are not responded to as quickly as some would like. Do the research. Would agree with what message number 5 has stated. |

| I have seen some contracts prepared by those "Copy and Paste" experts with pages and pages but often stating the obvious or the law. It is the quality and not the quantity that matters. For example you may employ somebody and state in the agreement that you will not pay them under the minimum wage. That is obvious and it is the law. So it is meaningless to put in such a clause. In most cases people tend to recommend people simply because they know them without really knowing how good or experienced they are at their work. My advice here is this: always ask why a particular person is recommended to you. Is it because they just happen to know the existence of that person or do they really have first hand knowledge of his/her work? How well is he/she known in court circles? A simple search can reveal a great deal. So if you are going to spend good money, then you should be prepared to spenbd some time and do your research properly. The most expensive may not the best lawyer and the cheapest may not be the worst!! So never go by price. ismet |

| Hi ismet , hope you and your wife are keeping well , and that the newlyweds are doing well also , and its good to see you posting here , i agree with your comment on the charges solicitors make , we are very pleased with ours , and although he has to charge for the land registration it is only £125 and that is very cheap compared to a lot of other solicitors mentioned in the land registration topics have a good w/e , Pat { simba } |

| Pat, Thanks for your good wishes. The newlyweds are into photography doing mostly weddings and birthdays. Your advocate charging only £125 must be a decent chap. One person mentioned above charges £1250 for the contract and £350 additional for registration. Scandolous! ismet |

| I'm wondering just how much the bad publicity and threat to take some lawyers to court for negligence has concentrated a few minds? It would be rather good if suddenly lawyers realised that the gravy train may have left the station and that they might actually have to compete by giving a quality service and value to stay in business. | Hi everyone. Apologies for not responding sooner, but I travelled away from Girne and couldn't believe how difficult it was to find internet cafes in certain areas, and the lack of public pay phones made my trip very frustrating at times also!! Did manage to get a good recommendation for a lawyer but early stages yet so will see how it all works out. |

| We must be very lucky then, because we have received only efficient and professional advice from Noami Mehmet and her team. Whilst we were out in NC last month, popped into their offices without an appointment because we needed advice on registering our contract and saw Askin, an associate there. He couldn't have been more helpful, also Sue the receptionist is great. |

| Its a problem knowing who is the best for the job. I have just visited the HBPG site and was reading the minutes from their last meeting re lawyers and whether or not to start procedings against some of the negligent ones. It stated that most solicitors in the TRNC are honest and trustworthy and that most of the problems arising are usually with the same 6-7 solicitors. It stated that their names could not be made displayed but most people were aware of who they are. Problem is I don't think many of us do know who they are! |

| Terry Hamilton is the man to contact, young go getter from Arbroath in Scotland. Very efficient and not full of Bull S**t, tells it how it is, and very customer focused. Worth a call for initial advice (free) and if you decide to hire him, rates very competitive. |
