Please can anyone inform me if they have used / heard of the Aykoc Furniture design company. They had a shop on the opposite side of the road to the Ship Inn a little higher up. I paid a deposit in January and can not seem to get a reply now that I'm trying to arrange delivery. The phone lines play an answer phone message. They also had a connection to an iron works in Kyrenia. Does aanybody know anything... I fear the worst. Cheers. Ian

Ian I'm sorry to tell you that the shop closed down a few months ago. I know this doesn't mean they no longer exist but I didn't find them reliable when I tried to purchase a table and chairs a while back. Messed me around no end and I ended up having to get a refund with the help of a TC friend.

I checked the telephone directory: Dalga Aykoç 8211285 Katriye Aykoç 8211286. They may be able to help if they changed the address of the shop. ismet

We also tried to find the shop a couple of weeks ago cos we had some nice stuff from them previously but I fear that they may have stopped trading.

gd427man - I also paid a deposit to this furniture shop, some £460 for a three piece suite for delivery in March this year. When I came out in March the shop was empty and closed up. The shop was leased from a company a few doors up from this shop, and they are also owed money for rent. I had an alternate address for this company on an invoice they provided. On visiting this address the road exists but is no house number matching that on the invoice! I am of the understanding that he has a workshop somewhere nearby? I have been to the police to no avail and had to resort to having my lawyer draw up papers to serve on the company which he has done. This not produced any reply from this company. I am out next week and hope to make a few more enquiries, have you had any joy? In the end I had to resort to buying a suite from another shop, and feel pretty bruised by the whole experience. It is not only some developers/builders that are bad, but also some traders as well.

The young lady who first opened the shop now has a good cane business up near Guidos sorry can't be any more specific. She may be able to direct you to the guy who opened the wrought iron shop and also owned the factory where a good chunk of it was made.
