Scunthorpe minister Mr Morley is to stand down following the expenses scandle. He claims the stress is affecting his health and his family are suffering. Shame. By standing down he will receive a payment of 65k and probanly a pension. Why oh why can they get away with itI only wish they could be in the real world where people loose homes daily and stress is making the divorce rate higher. God m so glad I live here with all the mafia style government . Strip them of everything and make them see its treason xxx

Lilli, I totally agree with you. First it was the bankers taking the proverbial, and they got away with it., and are still continuing to do so. Now this lot! They should not be allowed to stand down at the next election and continue to represent people who have no confidence in them. They should be forced to go now. Why should they continue to receive £65k plus lucrative expenses for the next 12 months, doing a job where none of their constutients want them? In the ordinary working world, people caught with their hands in the till, would be sacked and out. What is so different with these people? Nothing. They are still looking after themselves. It should not be allowed, but I think that the public's view will be reflected at the ballot boxes next week. I think they have all been given a script to explain away their "mistakes". I am sick of hearing the same old same old excuses from every single one of them. UK MP's - a national disgrace.

Why can they not be sacked? It seems they are allowed these wonderful pensions if they stand down but would that still be the case if they were sacked? If they are suffering stress etc ....................... good!!

My understanding of things is that if they stand down or loose their seat at an election then they can claim up to £135000 to tyde them over till they get a new job, but if they resign and leave then they get nothing. Maybe Stephen Day could enlighten us.

David Cameron has apparently said that the worst offenders in this farce should be prosecuted. It's about time someone 'in authority' suggested that. If it was any of us it would've been automatic!
