Hate to start another post but wanted peace of mind. wish me luck off to London on Monday morning to go and get the POA in English for solicitor in Girne. To confirm, do I just need a printed copy of the POA from solicitor, passport and money. Then post off recorded to solicitor. Ready to transfer the 0.5% and her fees of £200. Thanks all

Hi Lisa Apparently you will be on a fruitless journey as the PO A forms have to come from within the trnc.

According to HBPG if your lawyer or Estate Agent or Builder is registering the contract on your behalf, then you (they) do NOT have to have a POA. Martin

rtddci - how do HBPG know this is true because even our lawyers/estate agents are saying we do need one and surely the lawyers know dont they - mind you having said that - who knows anything these days they just seem to make it up as they go along. We are going to do one anyway just to be on the safe side I think!

hi all, been today to TRNC office, took all of 4 minutes to have the form stamped and pay my £12 and the POA was in English.(which I spoke to the Lawyer in TRNC this morning and she advised this was fine to take and it was.) So for those of you who are making this trip - it should be pain free.

Hi Picks, A POA is a power of attorney. which you will need to give to your lawyer to pay stamp duty and register contract at the lands registry office on your behalf, or to give to a friend who will do it for you. I need one from my husband so that I can register our contracts as they are in joint name and there is only me going to Cyprus to do the work. Hope this helps. Avril

Hi The Butler - nice to meet you this morning at the TRNC Consulate. Very quick werent they! Anyway just so everyone knows - they only take cash or postal order - we took our cheque book so had to quickly go and find a cash point which was only round the corner. I am sure most of you know this already but in case you dont then I have let you know. Now all I need to do is send it over to TRNC! All the best everyone - its not as bad as I thought - Oh and I got a little bit of retail therapy in too!!!!!!!!!!!!!

What do we need to send to TRNC Consulate along with the POA statement?? Is there an actual form? My solicitor has sent me a POA statement in Turkish and English. It's all too confusing - my hubby is going to register our contract during his 'maintenance' (I'm sure he means golfing) trip at the beginning of April. But I know he needs POA for me.
