whats the deal on national service...?

regardless of nationality if you decide to settle in cyprus u must complete the national service.

even 70-year olds must do it?

Or you can make a reasonable set payment to the relevant administrative body which will allow u

to "buy" the service time and all u do is two weeks military...

there's talk of doing community service (1 year) as a from of payment? sounds crazy!

would like 2 kno what: -fees involved

-is there any age limit

-how will it work out if u got children?

-what criteria must be satisfied-health status, sexual orientation, criminal record

checks, credit checks, political views etc?

-suffering from severe impairment/disability...?

cheers

All decendants of Turkish Cypriots are considered to be Turkish Cypriot and they must do their national service if they decide to settle here. However if you are too old, you are likely to fail the exam and thus escape the service.

If you are a "foreigner" but wish to become a citizen of TRNC, the same rules apply with one exception: If you can prove that you did your National SErvice in your country or if you were exempt from it, you will be exempted here as well. Buying off the service with money and doing only2-4 weeks service are just details.

Hi elko so if you get granted citzenship you still have to do it. If we are EU does that still count. Is there an age limit. So if for instance a 70 year old man has eventually got his citzenship would he have to go or escape. So all young men coming here and apply and given thier kimlik card get called up. xxxxxx
