Croos and No1 Doyen,

Many thanks. I don't drive like a TC but like a crazy Italian...take it that means I'll get there even quicker!

Joking apart, I will allow my self 2 hours and a half just in case I get lost. I take it the most direct route is the inland road?

Hi Simbas,

I seem to remember that you live on the Famagusta side of the Island. Whats it like there?

Hi mixie , its very raw and unspoilt on the way to the Karpaz, but its so charming in a rustic sort of way , the old part of the city is full of history and interesting buildings of years gone by . For me it's the best part . The new part is where the Unniversity is , so that part is full of young people . We love it there , you should go for the day and see for yourself you wont be disappointed

Good luck , Simbas

Simbas,

Thanks so much. We are looking at a Pre 1974 turkish title but the thought of buying is giving me sleepless nights for all the arguments that have previously been posted. I have a very sneeky feeling I will love this side of the Island.

Thanks again

Re message 6:

There may not be any static speed cameras on the road, but while I was there in May there were several police cars with hand held cameras en route, so be carefull.

Or should I say, if you are caught speeding...it serves you right!!

Yes Bill i am , but in my defence , i will say on the occasions that i have had my collar felt in the uk , i was breaking the law but only doing 36 in a 30 limit . But in NC they said i was doing a 100 coming out of the airport it was about 5-30 in the morning we had just landed and picked up the hired car . I don't know , i find it hard to believe , but you can't argue it ain't worth it

Take care ,Pat x

did it last week but when i got to the end of Tatliasu i turned left instead of right, took about 3 hrs, white knuckle ride up little old tracks winding around the mountains, mrs and kids were pissed off with me but the views and the scenery made it worth getting lost,we came back on the right road,it took about an hour coming back. fun though, just set off early, lots of sand flies last week on the seafront of bogaz,my son was plastered with them.
