Rusey,

Just to sum it up for you:

Stamp duty is 0.5% for contracts. All penalties cancelled until 31st March 2008. After this date it will be back to 1.5% (0.5% + 1.0% penalty for late payment). Part amnesty for penalties will continue until 11th July 2008 i.e. contracts dated 2004 or before will pay only 0.7%.

Final date for registration for contracts dated 1st January 2008 or earlier is 7th April 2008.

Elco .

could i have you're opinion on this.

Owing to the fact owner lives in UK finally manages to get to the

the tax office after the 31st March offering to pay the stamp duty of 0.5% , would they in you're opinion refuse payment ?

would it go on record that the owner tried to pay stamp duty but it was refused ?

Or would they except the payment of just 0.5% ?

They should refuse it point blank. Nobody can negotiate despite the law. No record. If anybody wishes to take the matter to the court they should have a wittness with them but it is futile.
