how do i join the mutual admiration club of Cyprus 44 ?

There seem to be a group of people who submit posts which have little or no relavance to TRNC life, just a 'I wish I was as nice as you are' type message.

Try and post something which either helps or informs other TRNC residents.

Well, maybe some of us newbies should try something similar. I don't know you Martin, have never met you, but you seem alright. Okay so far?

You are right, but this is a thing of communities, whether virtual or in the real world, I'm afraid. And here, as in other forums, there is terminology and "plots" - for want of a better word - that goes right over my little head.

Big Mart,

I think I do qualify for the membership of the club you mentioned. Look at these forms as a form of cyber coffee shop. I do post on many relevant matters but also I take part in the chit chat just to make the time pass so to speak.

You may say that it will be better to have separate categories as we have them in VO Forum but it does not really work like that. A thread may start off very seriously and then slowly it may transform into a chit chat or vice versa. You cannot put people and their thoughts into strictly regimented formats. We are humans after all with all our failures.

The majority of members on this forum are really quite nice people who have been here for a while, as in real life they build up a rapport and enjoy a joke or two, I feel sure that if you actually take people for what they are instead of making sarcastic remarks, which serve no purpose and do not relate to TRNC matters, you may get more of a response.

It would be a pretty boring forum if all we talked about was the TRNC, most subjects have been covered anyway, and the Google search engine at the top of most pages will guide you to pretty much all matters discussed relevant to the TRNC.

What do you mean 'good post' ?

That is exactly what I am talking about, a pointless post , saying how great you all are.

When are you lot going to start putting something usefull on here, not just telling each other in your little gang how nice and lovely you all are.

BigMart, All of us on this forum try and help people with any question they may have, however I do get your point, as sometimes it is used for people to chat to each other, but on this forum that's the only way you can communicate as there is no pm (personal message) and no chat area............................By the way, I think your great

Well, it's for sure we won't be saying how lovely you are !

Us lot, as you so nicely call us, or speaking for myself perhaps, are getting a bit sick of the likes of you coming on here with nothing to offer but insults, who do you think you are. You are not alone in that attitude, there are others who think they are superior to most of us, well I,ve got news for you, you're not. A good many people on this board have worked hard all their lives to enjoy the fruits of that in their retirement, they too have had productive/rewarding/essential jobs and if they want to spend time on a bulletin board conversing with like minded people they can do, if that offends you then feel free to go elsewhere.

I am 61, that is not old, but old enough to do as I please without being slated by people who cannot accept my right to do just that, I am entitled to my opinion too, it may differ from yours but again it is my right to hold that opinion, I am also prepared, gladly, to answer any requests for he

hi bigmart

i agree of late this forum hasn't been that informative, thats why a lot of the old posters are not here.

just be carefull who you hug with would be my advice.

if you don't hug with the crowd or have a different point of view, they will not make you welcome.

but then there are the others of us don't actually care. long live freedom of speech!

help or information, I have yet to see you ask anything specific, I'm sure if you do you will be offered every assistance.

Many of the people on this board have achieved great things in their lives, not many of them choose to brag about it like some however, some actually know the meaning of humility, respect and acceptance of others choices, if the day should dawn when you discover that you possess any one of those qualities I will offer an apology and perhaps treat you with a little more respect than you are capable of showing others.

Now I shall go and calm down with a good book and a cool drink feeling much better for getting that off my chest.

a public meeting or assembly for open discussion

The Forum was the public space in the middle of a Roman city.

Both of these are definitions of a forum and as far as I can say there is no mention of what you can and can't discuss.

I for one find that general chat with other people is useful in gathering information as well as potential future friends int he area i will be moving to with my family.

I agree that the negative personalities that appear on the forum serve no purpose but to irritate people but i would rather find that out about them in the forum than introduce them to my family just because they had some definitive information but were a complete ass.

As I was told recently, opinions are like anus's, everyone has one and they all stink.

Good to hear from the "gang" again though, Paul
