Someone from quarantine kennels in Nicosia should be there to meet the flight, they will guide you through all paperwork needing to be filled by customs and will allow you to follw them(they should have transport for your pets) to quarantine kennels. Think visiting is still 9 til 10 in morningsand 2 til 3 in afternoon ,you will need to visit at these time as it is your responsobility(s?) to feed and water your pets and also to clean the runs and exercise them. Take plenty of water ,disenfectant and anything comforting your pets will appreciate. Be prepared ,it isn't the pleasentest of places ,but it doesn't last forever. Hope this is helpful, oops, almost forgot, take all relevant paperwork with you to airport,import/export licenses etc Jen

jen much appriciated for the information, the paperwork will fly with dog, but have copies just in case they get lost. Do you park in any special place at Ercan or just where you can?

Our two dogs survived quarantine without a hitch but definitely visit them the full hour in the morning and evening. The staff there were all quite pleasant to us and usually called us in early if we got there about 15 minutes before. They didn't seem too concerned if we left a little late either. Ours were in 13 days but it depends on how busy the kennels are - it could be less or more. We just parked up as normal and the quarantine guy pointed out his van and waited for us to catch him up - even when the gate guard stopped us to ak to see our passports - and this was around 11.30pm. Be prepared for your animal to come up on the carousel with the bags! I'll never forget the sight of ours watching everyone watching them! It feels like hard work about 1 week into it but keep your chin up as they soon settle into their new life - ours absolutely love it look as if they lived here all their lives!

Hi Sucker its not the most pleasant experience My poor staffi was left overnight as nobody from the vets ept turned up until next morning even though we waited al night. take the advice and plenty water as sometimes water is in short supply. If you can pick a shaddy cell for them. The staff are kind but got a little upset with me sometimes as I took food for the poor mites that had no one to care for them. Nobody ever asked me to leave as I used to stay as long as I could. It took me 6 hours round trip.take treats that he/she got at home to comfort them. when are you thinking because it gets very hot summer months. quartine time varies dependant on how busy they are. mojo did 10 days. its bearable as long as you are prepared to do the work. rose (FIRESTARTER has been looking after my friends dog there) so email her if you cant face it Im sure she would look after them and she is very good. good luck it dosent last long and they soon settle xxxxx

They didn't turn up at the airport for my pets either but we phoned the number we were given. They came in about 15-20 minutes. Stuck the carrier in the car boot and away they went ! Nightmare, but over very quickly. I don't think they ever keep animals in the full 6 weeks, Ours came out after 12 days. Thank goodness ! Good luck !

when you arrive at ercan drive past the arrival doors and take the roadway at the end to the left. you can park there without being charged. there is a small office to the righthand side, where you need to do your paperwork and pay the unloading fee's in turkish lira for your pet. they will call quarantine and you have to wait for them to arrive. take with you some water and a bowl so your pet can have a drink, they will let you just take them out of the travel crate to use the loo. but ask politely first! when he arrives he will deal with customs and put your pet in its carrier onto his truck. follow him to quarantine. quarantine from girne, over the mountian to lefkosa, to the first roundabout, take the left onto the famagusta road, stay on that road until you see brt radio then you know quarentine is one of the next turnings. if you get to traffic lights and jap 10 carsite is next to you, you have gone too far. visiting hrs are 9.30-10.30am and 3.30-4.30 daily. i hope t
