I realise this topic has been covered from what I saw earlier. However, my neighbours were paying a pool guy to look after their pool last year and he just let it slide until by last May the entire pool floor and walls were covered with thick limescale. I winterised the pool and put a cover on for them in November and have just removed it for summer use. The limescale is still there I'm afraid and the only tip I can pick up from the topic comments was to use sodium bisulphate. I'm happy to try this but wonder how much of it to use, given that it's circa 10,000 gallons capacity, also, is there a danger in over 'chemicalising' the pool. Is there an alternative to this and if so is it likely to be any more effective?

hi there you will be very lucky if you can remove it chemically sodium bisulphate wont touch it to mild only good for adjusting ph you could try a heavy acid like bromide or hydrochloric acid but this is expensive and could affect the grout in the pool the most succesful and quickest is to empty it then the bisulphate will have a chance brushed on good luck john

You have to ask yourself why the limescale formed in the first place.

If you don't know the answer then you won't be able to figure out the solution.

First 2 clues:

I suspect the pool is located in RoC and is a skimmer pool.
