| What are your plans for the 20th July.....the anniversary of the turkish intervention in cyprus..... Me, I shall be out there on this date for the 1st time in 3 years.....and looking forward to it |

| Certainly would never go down to the harbour again to see it as the heat nearly killed us all. The restaurants nearly all ran out of water would you believe. But if you have never been it is worth a visit |

| Each year a small flotilla of boats from here cross to Turkey (Aydincik) and exchange flags. The one from Turkey is then used in the 20th July ceremony at Escape Beach. It is a very simple and moving ceremony. The flame on the small island is lit, flags raised, cannon fired and wreaths are placed in the sea for those who died there. That's where I will be. |
