| I was horrified to see such a biased programme on British Television. The programme referred to the Orams case and that of one other it did not state that TRNC nationals cannot get access to land they owned in the south. They get delayed at every turn. It did not state that the judge who made judgement in The Hague against the Orams was Greek. It did show newsreel same reporter as in 74 of the invasion by Turkish paratroops into the north - it did not state that this was because the south had broken the terms of the United Nations agreement of sharing power and responsibility for the governing of the island as a whole in the proportion of 2/3rd Greek Cypriot and 1/3rd Turkish Cypriot. it was an intervention not an invasion to prevent total genocide of Turkish Cypriots. I would recommend reading The Genocide Files by Mr. Scott a reporter for a British National Newspaper at the time together with Death of a Friendship by Turkan Aziz MBE chief Matron of Cyprus at the time. |

| Nice plug for (Turkish-funded) Rustem publishers, joelo. Shame about the books, though. |

| Perhaps Ilovekibris and arbee could tell us all what is wrong with the books mentioned. Maybe backing it up with something concrete to allow us all to understand their point of view. |

| The GC / TC land ownership percentages are very arguable firstly percentages of population don't necessarily indicate how much land they owned. When the Cyprus Republic was formed in 1960 all government land was effectively owned jointly and indivisibly by all of the population at the time much in the same way as joint tenancy ownership. You could argue on a split of the two states this should either have been split 50/50 or 70/30 in line with other provisions of the constitution. This is even before looking at other issues such as whether there was any residual Evcaf ownership of some lands (there seems to be a lack of available evidence both ways on this) and land sales made under duress during the troubles of the 1960's and early 1970's, plus fraudulent transfers. It would be also interesting to see documents on how GC ownership increased from minimal/ zero levels prior to the 1878 British leasing of the Island to what was claimed today and what was paid in compensation.
