Sad/happy subject but while most of us want to see our lives out in the TRNC, how do we want to be laid to rest?

I worry about that all the time as I want to be cremated and have told my family my wishes, but in the TRNC they dont have cremations so what will happen will it be the cost of a flight home to be cremated in the UK all that expense for the family, but my family dont believe in Burials either, so it is a worry

My son is to make the decision when i pass...he is the one left to deal with it, so whatever is best for him emotionally, financially whatever....at the moment he says for me to be cremated, so he can keep some ashes in the uk and take the other half of my ashes to Northern cyprus and sprinkle them in the family grave site.... But i aint going for a long time.......

Hi all, If I die in the TRNC I will be buried there, if I die in the UK I would wish to have a woodland buriel in a wicker box which is biogradable. Both my parents were cremated but the thought horrifies me. The butlers wife

Put me in a box and send me to the tax man - my last gift to him so he can squeeze the last drop out of me!! But, if that is too expensive - just plant me where I drop if you can get away with it. No special requests and no need to add to global warming either. Did want to be cremated at one time to be sure I had gone but now, as it grows ever closer, then whatever is the easiest for who is left behind. One big wish is that nobody comes and "pines" away their lives year after year, its not worth it - memories are in the mind and you can carry them everywhere with you.

Burial - Atleast families have somewhere to go if they want to sit in peace and 'talk' to their dead loved ones! Surely sitting and talking to a pot of dust is less fulfilling than actually sitting with the person!

i don't care either way, i will be dead. as long as friends and family have a good party for me afterwards. i don't believe in talking to dead people, i believe we should remember them how they were.

People should be remembered for the work they did in life. Actually I would like to write a book on something but I am too lazy for that. In any case, I cannot think of a subject that should be of interest to anybody except my wife. She will look for bits of confessions to use against me!!! ismet

My father died in the Uk, but had always said he wanted to be buried in his homeland....he is buried in cyprus, but i only get to his grave a couple of times a year..... In my garden in the Uk i have a corner with some of the plants from his grave and others that he liked., beach stones that my son has picked from cyprus, along with a plaque of cyprus and an angel.... Both me and my son go and sit and chat and light our incence sticks.... and i always share a ciggie with dad. on fathers day we laid a red rose for him.....just how we wanted to do things...

It has to be burial for me as Im an Irish catholic. However my brother and little sis who died not too long ago both wanted cremation. My brothers ashes were sent in the Irish sea and little JoJo wantes a rose bush which my middle sister respected. I go to my mums grave wheneve I get to Uk talk to her and this gives me peace. I put a bench there in her memory so I cant sit and talk xxxxx

Definate! I am not knocking the talking at the graveside thing one little bit and fully respect the wish's of people who do this, if it gives them peace then it must be good. For me, I find a spot by the sea, any sea, when I want to have words with my father and he is buried in Teeside somewhere. My mother gets talked to/at where ever I am, poor things she will never be free of me and dieing did not help her one bit. I always feel a sence of peace when I visit a cemetary but would not like to have a fixed place to visit loved ones, I take them with me and that works for me.
