Should some Cypriots and non-Cypriots involved in Cyprus atrocities pay, too ?

Hi Patrick

re msg 3

I think you'll find the thread you were responding to has been deleted - but LN has tried to start it again !

In response to YOUR question - I'm happy to accept the land that my G.Granddad gave up in County Longford - when he HAD to move north ;)

Mark,

With all your knowledge, what would be the percentage of dislacement from both communities from one part to the other.

I think you told me your G Gdad was a Police officer which would have been for the British? If so....then when the country was partitioned he would have been well advised to have moved. My question to you is was your G Gdad the first owner and title holder of the land before British rule?

none of the above is meant to be offensive, just curious.

Patrick.

Hi Lilli and Patrick re msg 6-8

>>G Gdad was a Police officer which would have been for the British<< NO.. He regarded himself as Irish as did Grandpa - and the latter was the great man who made me realise we were taught a load of divisive crap at school, re history ! You are correct that the family HAD to leave... may be ( or not !) you forgot that proddies were active in the home rule movement and could fight the Germans, with British soldiers and feel IRISH ! It seems many forgot that at the time of "partition".

I didn't take offence ! Hard to talk percentages.. many "planted" ones had been in Ireland a lot longer.. YES... the land had been in the family for generations..

Lilli and you have it right, now.. less folk CARE about English folk living in Eire and the same applies about Irish folk in the UK... for now...

Nice one Mark.

I have been through Longford many a time. Lovely Town. I too had lovely grandparents who we loved seeing on our summer holidays in Ireland. Off over again on Saturday.

My dad told me about the signs Lilli. History eh! we have to move on.

Having a place in Ireland and Cyprus takes some beating.

Bless you all.
