| cont.... The north of the island has a very sad look to it with new houses being built and left to the elements unfinished. My visit to the village was great, 40 years on and treated as one of the family straight away. A lovely time had. Looked at the land made the appropriate notes and flew home after a couple of days. No way long enough, but I will come back in the new year. Will the Cyprus problem ever be solved. I doubt it, the GS's who passed the comments were not old men with a grudge, but teenagers that have been brought up being taught to hate Turkey and the North. There has to be a change in how the children are educated to get a true settlement of the problem otherwise there will never be peace. Maybe 2 seperate areas on the same island is the way to go. We have 3 countries on our island and that works. Sorry to bore you with my little story but I loved the island and to see what it has become was very upsetting. |
