What's passed has passed, dav88. How do people sharing a bit of black humour know whether somebody somewhere in the world has died from any particular cause? Get a grip. As my old ma says: "I may have Alzeimers but at least I don't have Alzeimers."

Sorry Dodger Everytime I tell the one about my grandad falling off the machine gun tower, I get complaints. The ex tractor fan explanation, I get complaints. The Australian sheep story, I get complaints. The reason behind your acute inferiority complex, I get complaints. The have you seen that film "The Magic Tractor"? I get complaints. The I dreamt I was a teepee last night, the night before I dreamt I was a wigwam! Do you think I'm too tense? raised not even a flicker. I even posted about the last bus to Ercan complete with photo and someone blew me out. You can't win. Lem

Lem I still love you. Lets face it only the vino calapso helps . cheaper than prozac. I will never forget being in dublin at a friends two bots of champers and we discovered we were late for our restaurant booking. So off we all went in her little Fiat glass in hand each off us. Nolleen the driver commited the ultimate sin in ireland. She drove down the bus lane. We got stopped wound the window down. The garda asked why are you driving down a bus lane. answer we need to get to the restaurant before they release our table. next question have you been drinking. She laughted have I been drinking I still am and raised her glass. His reply will I park the car and get ye lovely ladies a taxi. This he did and delivered us with our glasses in hand to the restaurant. Only in Ireland. Girls he was so easy on the eye also xx This is true

Lilli, As lovely as that story is it teaches us a valuable lesson in life. Always give yourself an extra half an hour before the restaurant booking when you are 3 sheets to the wind

you are so right we were not actually but the champers in the car kind of gave us away. We were only having an end of show drink but the irish in us took over. She was such a beauty that any one would have fallen for her irish charm. Bit like me really (joke) xxx

On a more serious note if anybody thinks they are in trouble with alcohol and would like some help then they can always call 0542 8557743 and I would be only too pleased to talk to them. There are meeting here in Northern Cyprus of AA and we would be delighted to help anybody.

Its hard for about the first week and then it gets easier but then I have never completely stopped, I usually get to somewhere between 6 to 10 weeks and then always make the mistake of thinking I have kicked it after that time and I can have 1 or 2 and stop again in the morning. It never works and then I am back to 20 a day within a couple of weeks. I hope you get through it and break the habit but the only advice i can give you is a multi times failed stopper is don't think I'll just have a couple and stop again in the morning. Basically my will power sucks.

They are all still there Mike, I think. Luba put a stop to me visiting the Dark Side as they like to call it now. I told her i was just showing some of the new guys to Dubai the area, you know doing my bit for the community but for some reason there was mentions of butchers knives and great Danes again and you of all people know where that leads. I took the hint and stick to Long's bar and Barasti these days. I still get the occassional friendly greeting from the waifs and starys but i am a reformed man, so far !!!

Hold on Longs bar used to be a clear haven but I was in there last november and I thought that Cyclone had moved location... Luckily I just break out into my best Russian and tell them my wife is Tatar and currently in the bathroom they all of a sudden loose interest very quickly.... must be something to do with those sharp implements ......

It's always had a few regulers that get through the door and aren't too obvious about it but it has gotten worse over the last year or so. New bar manageress who wouldn't know one if they stood on her toes. They do tend to be russian though , I suppose they are slightly less obvious but I agree, when I say hello in Russian and explain that my wife is who taught me they are always very busy suddenly. The other problem for me should I be interested is that after using it as my local for 7 years all the staff know me and the wife. I think that is why I use it, I feel safer that way. My wife used to hate the place because if she went in with her friends all the numptys put 2 and 2 together and came up with 12. Pretty russian girls together, must be on the game. Ironically now that she knows all the saff in there she is fine about the place. the fact that she can get someone thrown out in about 5 seconds helps I think.

Been there mate must admit I had a bit of fun educating the numpties sometimes but there are some good managers and security staff in some places and when they get to know you they tend to be quite good on ejecting the nupties. Hope we get over there in July and we can have a scoof....

All depends on the dates Mike, I am at the moment trying to plan flights to Dubai from Doha and back, Dubai to Ercan and back, Moscow to Ercan and packing the house, 2 weeks in NC and the wife and daughter going back to Russia for a month. I only get 26 days at home so its great fun. Biggest Irony is that we have a major project going on in Abu Dhabi at the moment and they want me to go and help out with the commisioning in a couple of months. Just after we leave the country and I won't be able to nip home at night to see the wife, gotta love the planning by the company

Message 21 I went to an AA meeting the other day and to my horror, every single member there stood up and confessed to being an alcoholic! Well that's the last time I'm using those boastful drunkards to fix my car, I just hope the RAC staff are more responsible! Lem

Lets face it lem, if you had to get called out every night to help some idiot who forgot to put petrol in the car you would be driven to drink or something even stronger. I went to a "Don't do drugs" meeting recently and it was the same, all of the lying buggers were doing them
