Why doesnt this current government and future goverment introduce a new policy on restricting the number of kids for those people who rely on the state to keep them. The government is acting as a insurance policy for peoples mistakes.More kids you have the more money you get.No wonder you get not only the brits taking advantage but those immigrants coming in as well.

As someone who chose not to have children and has never had any benefit it does annoy me that the government are quite happy to give out limitless money to those who choose breeding over work. How about giving childrens allowance for the 1st one, then a minimum payment for the 2nd then none after that. I used to work in a pharmacy that gave out medication to couples having IVF and it used to sicken me that people who had never supported themselves in their lives (and were proud of it) got all the help and medication for free Tell me, if you can't support yourself, how can you support a child? How about a government that supports honest, hard working people who save and look after themselves and their own - with or without children???

Hi Lilli, This is true that eastern european migrants can claim family allowance for children left at home. I know this because we have had several of them working on our property and they tell me this is true. They are extremely hard workers and the majority of them come here to work hard, to give their families a better life. Most of them return home after 5 years with enough money to buy a home but they are replaced with their cousin or younger brother. I have also read that they can claim family credits and why not if they are paying their taxes? It is the migrants who come and have no intention of working but just scrounge off the state. As I live in London I have seen them all and I cannot wait to move permenantly to the TRNC, where I feel both safe and welcome. The butlers wife

Why does the govt not justissue food/clothing vouchers, non exchangable for ex to tesco/asda. That way kids get food money not wasted eslewhere, also no money for children not residing in country with parents!

In some cases the benefits are more generous than those in the UK. But don't expect to the Sun, Express or Daily Mail to tell you that. |

At the supermarket where i worked asylum seekers used to come in with their vouchers, but buy a 30p bar of chocolate, pay with a £10 voucher and we had to give them the change in cash. They also used the vouchers to buy cigarettes, always in packets of 10, which they would sell on to under age kids and get cash that way. Head office queried these practices with the DSS but was told nothing could be done.

Hi bogeyman, Having worked hard all my life and all over the world, I give credit where credit is due. Unfortunately the work ethic of a lot of British workers leaves a lot to be desired. My husband as the name suggests is a butler and he has to often work 18 hour days and sometimes for a month without having a day off. How many young british people today would do that? Please don't criticise me for voicing my opinion, as I am as entitled as you to have one.

msg 9, I think the point here is about the scroungers taking averything they get and not doing anything to deserve it. You are probably right about it happening in other EU countries but that doesn't make it correct. Think about the context of the subject and please stop finding any bloody excuse to attack the brits, we might well be a bunch of whingers as I think you are trying to point out but if its a valid point why attack us. Do you pay taxes, do you feel happy that people will not work to support their families because the government gives them everything for free and I am not just talking about the immigrants but it would be a good start to stop the immigrants and then start on the locals.

Hi ilovekibris. I did not know about the EU scheme. I only found out today when my friend who has moved here was told she could no longer claim family allowance for her children living here.
