About to do residency number 11, just for once I would like to turn up at Girne police and have all the latest required materials. Last year was ; local bank book, mukhtars form, pink book, copy of previous residency stamp, copy of passport picture page, proof of stamp duty paid, (on contract) I think that`s it.

Are there any changes and if so what are they please?

Also has anyone been to see their Lapta mukhtar lately and how much are they ripping us off for this year?

Thanks in advance

Ozankoy Mukhtar charges 10TL per letter this year. Think you have covered all the bases otherwise, but ours was 4 weeks ago and it may have changed since then............

P.S. Give it at least 3 weeks before you go Lefkosa to get the rest of the paperwork/game sorted.

Am just doing mine now in Karsiyaka :

Muhtar letter 10ytl - copy of kocan needed

Police station apparently open from 8 - 12

and you need:

Kocan

Copy of bank statement

copy of passport( main section and residency stamp) and also take your original p port

pink residency card

That is apparently it... although going tomorrow to do that part so watch this space...

After that in Lefkosa you will need 7ytl stamps and 175ytl for actual residency

Lefkosa office open Mon 8 - 13.00 and 1545 - 1700

Tues - Fri 8 - 1300 (again this is what i have been told...)

Hope this helps

Morning scoop we payed a total of 160ytl to the Lapta muhtar last year for Hubby and I and A & B

Would you not be better going for permanent residency save you doing this every year? Can't imagine having to go through that every year for 11 years you must be mad!!!

Hi,I did my residency permit yesterday at the police station

Opens 7.45-12.00,get there at 7.30 you will be the first in! you will have to go in at the main enterance the side door was closed.

They are now issuing ticket numbers, as i left at 7.55 they were at no6.

As per mssg 3, tho the police man said to take a 6.60TL stamp to immigration!

You need your original bank book as well as copy, same with other paperwork, very thorough this year, especially with income, money. When you arrive at police station go into immigration office and get a number first even if no queue. We went last week.

Nursie message 5;

Not being naturally masochistic I assure you if we could get permanent we would.

Always we fall down on one point; the lack of pensions. (Too young)

In theory if you have property and are retired and in receipt of a pension and can prove you have the funds to support yourselves then you are eligible.

But even with these criteria met it is not a given that permanence will be granted.

I know people who have obtained premanent residency without meeting the criteria but only with the aid of shall we say, an inducement.

The figures are not published but I think you`ll find very few people have been granted permanent status in the last seven years or so. (Source BRS)
