Hi dodger, a good write up also in the Sunday Mail GB. ---- N.C. sounds wonderful, and I agree.

Hi Boomer47, the write up in the Sunday Mail was a complete 2 page article without the 'add your comment' bit, the online article is practically the same, but of course when online you can add your comments. Lets hope people in GB will read it without the 'politics' hampering their choice of a holiday. LOL

It is strange though when something good gets written about N.C, you always get a negative from 'afar'.

Perhaps we should swap it with 'Up with N.C' and the Turks!

Have put my side to the article but the moderators obviously only want the Greek side to answer!

Perhaps someone else could put a comment on, lets see if they get their point over as well .lol

Maybe if you'd been kicked out of your home then had it stolen from you, you would feel like adding your comment to a holiday article inviting tourists to the place you were ethnically cleansed from.

It's called empathy - putting youself in the other person's shoes - and it's a quality most decent people possess.

Hi Steward,Yea right, like next year! ooooh I am cynical in my old age arnt I .

Ilovekibris, sorry to have sounded like I didnt care regarding the feeling of the Greek, but you see most of us do care, it is the articles comments that make any one reading it, again protect the N.C as a whole.

Yes of course one can feel for whoever, but to try and stop tourists is pretty shallow and nasty to most peoples ethics. Please dont take this as an insult, just that we(I) love N.C now more than South, where once we always holidayed untill got fed up with listening to half truths. So sorry. lol

Great article written by Gareth Huw Davies.

Then soured by Michalis Georgiou of London.

Sour grapes ' Bitter Lemon' comment and very much biased and anti to progression.

Stead fast almost and suggesting still .. I want it all.

Imagine the welcome arms for this character. I think not.

I too prefer the north to the south (geographically speaking) but that doesn't mean abandoning one's principles. You say you care about the GC's feelings but it seems to me you're sticking your fingers in your ears to him and others in his position. And as for mentioning ethics...

No slanging match needed. Your earlier posts showed inconsistency and double standards and I challenged them, that's all.

what a joke this article is... any one with any morals knows the real situation in cyprus. maybe the journalist is one of the brits who is worried about owning a property on our northern shores and is trying to make himself and others believe what he writes..

I find it funny that any article favouring the Greek's is considered by GC as the truth....any article stating how good the north is for holidays, must be from a brit who has a home there.

If the north is so bad for holidays..why are certain GC so keen to get it back?

Could we agree to disagree and stop this in fighting within the island....At least it is only words on the net..not like pre 74?.

In all disputes...everyone thinks they are right...there are always winners and losers....and..the losers do not always accept it...such is life.

iLK why you always so fightish, what have the Orams to do with this good article about holidays in N.C? Surely other nationalitys are allowed to visit for a holiday without others getting all 'frizzy' about it? lol

Cypwine Re Msg 43

I'm intrigued. What are the lies that are being told to holidaymakers. Are you saying that there are lies in the Daily Mail article? Where?

Or are you saying that the tourist information in North Cyprus is telling lies? In what way? They may not be dwelling on the wrongs of the past in the way that others like so much to do but that's not lying.

What I do hear is an awful lot of mis-information directed at holidaymakers from the GC side. E.g. illegal port of entry, arrested at the border . .

I would agree with the papers view about kyrenia it is a lovely area, what i dont agree with is the paper forgetting to tell the holiday makers that our northen shores are being run by an unrecognised country by people who are benefitting from other peoples hotels, resturants etc

cypwine, we were commenting on the article re holidays in N.C. but obviously some of the forum members do not want our opinion! As for the history of the Island, of course we make our own judgements of this now and in the past. Perhaps some of us know more than others, well, its just like that in life isnt it.

Unfortunatly the Greeks bombard you with their lies when you holiday in the South, to such a point that you loose respect for them.

The article in the paper was really nothing to do with the politics of the Island, just telling folks that it is a good place to holiday.

In respect of some of the comments from ILK and cypwine, they do not know anyones own history regarding any up heaval be it here on the Island or anywhere else.

Dodger the link is on mes 5, good reports on there, mines not been put up, perhaps it was so gushing to wards N.C and sort of 'told of the first post' for being so nasty and misinforming regarding 'being arrested' etc.!

Well, I will try again, but the first posting has disappeared into the sky, I think it was because he did not get his facts correct regarding arrests etc. lol
