Did anyone else see the fiasco at sunny lane school yesterday? My child came running up to me saying that he had just saw one of the female staff being man handled by salik who works for Unwins. I went to investigate and saw Salik throw a female teachers (Miss Jillian) belongings on the floor and one of the bus drivers was searching her property. This was all happening whilst the children were leaving school for the day. My child witnessed salik pulling the teacher by the arm and trying to make her leave the school. This was an appalling scene to be witnessed by staff, parents and especially the children and should be reported to the police by the teacher concerned, I am sure there were many witnesses to back up this horrific story.

I think if my child had witnessed something like this at school I would be straight away onto the school governers and principle demanding an explanation as to how this happened! The man if he does not work at the school should be done for trespassing as well as assault.

When I see a new member posting I am careful, when I see it is about Unwins I am more than careful because it seems to me that there is a campaign against this firm. I presume that the people involved are connected to Unwins. Why should they want a teacher to leave the premises or have her property searched? Could it be that the teacher concerned has resigned or has been sacked and she is not willing to leave the prmises or was it an attempt to stop any confidential material being taken away from the school? Usually there are two sides to every story and these forums are not really the places to sort out legal wrangles of this nature. It may be more diffficult to enforce libel laws over the internet but assuming that such laws are nonexistent may be perilous. Just a word of caution here, that's all. ismet

How awful, I think very highly of Miss Gillian as she was very kind to my granddaughters Tai and Yasmin when they were at Sunny Lane, I hope this gets settled and to catch the culprit. Sheila (smithy)

well it's all happening there now............................................. "Allegedly" several more teachers have been sacked, including the headmaster & weren't allowed back on the premises. Have to say I am having doubts about using that school to teach my child next year.

I am very sorry to say but this is true, I feel sorry for all the children concerned especially those who where in this lovley ladies class. she had 3 more days left and its a shame as im sure the children would have given her a nice sending off surprise and present. and this was taken away from them (children). This is not the manner to take infront of children, parents or staff, i wonder how the staff members feel about this? will it happen to you? I have always thought highly of the school and the Unwins but to see this and the children crying was dispicable and NOT business like. There where children helping Miss Gillian with all her personal belongings. Miss Gillian, I wish you all the luck in the world and it is a real shame that your class did not get to say a proper end of school term good bye to you, im sure they had something very special for you. Good Luck.

elko2 You don't know what is going on so why do you speculate? When I see someone rush to the defense of the Unwins I have to wonder why?

re message 7- I do not read Elko's message #3 as being a defence of the Unwin's but simply a voice of reason. Having said that, the messages posted after Elko's do seem to confirm the original posting.

Eh! What I said about Elko's post was that as he didn't know why did he speculate and post suggestions which could well be innaccurate. On the other hand, I feel fairly sure that what I have been told is true but as it is third hand I am not prepared to post it.

To touch/pull a female teacher for whatever reason (no justification) illustrates the depths that these 'toe-rags' will stoop to. 'Malik' - you must feel very proud of yourself! Carry on and one day, you will be sucking through a straw. Elko - tut, tut.

I can confirm that 5 teachers were asked to leave the school premises yesterday for good reason. Those 5 teachers had already resigned and their last working day was to be Friday 19th June. I can also confirm that written statements from our School and various individuals have already been sent to the relevant departments/people. I would like to add that Gillian was not man-handled by anyone at the School or from Unwin's. I feel that people should be aware that we do not ask people to leave our premises immediately unless we have grounds and for good reason. This action was taken to protect our School, students and our staff. Hayran

Would it not be a good idea to give this popular lady teacher a good send off by arranging a get together somewhere outside the school? I am sure most of her pupils if not all will attend and it can be a terrific way of giving support to her plus a special thank you opportunity for her pupils. ismet

Elko, I can understand you not wanting to believe what happened, but I am afraid to say that it is a true fact. The Unwins have to terminate employment for Salik for what he did, otherwise it reflects on them very badly. It appears this has happened because miss Gillian spoke up about the way she and other teachers were being treated. Lots of children stayed after school to help Miss Gillian with her belongings and were crying at the way she was treated, It was disgusting behaviour.

Hayran, why were you not there at the school to ask miss Gillian to leave yourself if the school was in such grave danger from this teacher. many people saw what happened and it is true, the Malik or Salik whatever his name is should be banned from the school premices forever. So perhaps you would like to make a statement to all parents, teachers and children why miss Gillian was manhandled out of the school, as what was witnessed was no way protecting staff or children in any way. If the children need protecting from these 5 teachers all the parents of the children need to know why?

message 21 (Robinhood) couldn't agree more.............................................. I did "hear" that they were sacked to save the school a few quid. That, I could believe. 5 teachers sacked 3 days before they were due to leave is a ridiculous situation.

I did not say we were in grave danger from this teacher. We sent the relevant letters asking those 5 teachers to leave the premises immediately for good reason, which is the correct procedure. Salih was not sent to school from Unwin's to remove any teacher from the building. Salih works for both Unwin's and Crest and he was at School going through the recent trips with the drivers, however, he heard Gillian shouting at staff therefore he stepped in to try to calm the situation. I feel it would be incorrect to post the reasons on a public forum as to why those teachers were asked to leave the School immediately. However, I invite any concerned parents to contact the School for an appointment to meet with Mark Unwin or me to enable us to answer your questions personally. Hayran

I write to confirm that we have just spoken to Gillian on the phone and she has clearly confirmed that she was NOT man-handled by Salih or anyone else for that matter and her books were not thrown on the floor. This has come from Gillian herself and for those who know Gillian then please ask her to confirm this as I am sure she will tell you the truth. Based on this statement from the lady herself, it would seem that Robinhood and Tuttut are clearly lying to people to show our School in a bad light which could be detrimental to our school and our students if people believe them. Robinhood and Tuttut your actions, based on the fact that you have clearly lied, is in my opinion dispicable and totally unnecessary. Tuttut you know Salih personally, therefore, I am shocked that you could fabricate such lies about him considering how friendly you were. The situation yesterday was upsetting enough for many people without you having to lie to make it sound worse.

Please read the comments made and for those who know Gillian, please make contact with her and ask her the question yourself rather than listening to stories. Maybe when you find out the truth you would be so kind as to post your comments for us all to see. |

Well biglugs you are not exactly an outside as such as you have a separate personal issue with Unwn's as a company, so instead of using this thread to air your grievances, why do you not contact me direct regarding the pool at the Olives. However, if you wait until tomorrow I will happily e-mail you direct with the full report we received this afternoon from the pool company. The 5 teachers who were asked to leave their posts earlier than anticipated, not sacked, all tendered their resignations back in January 2009 for varying reasons such as; retirement, moving overseas or moving onto pastures new so no need for alarm bells! I can confirm that all of those teacher's positioned have been filled with new recruits who will commence their employment with us on the 1st September 2009 in readiness for our new academic year.

Msg 16 "I feel that people should be aware that we do not ask people to leave our premises immediately unless we have grounds and for good reason. This action was taken to protect our School, students and our staff. " I agree, there are two sides to every story but surely "action taken to protect our students" should not entail children witnessing such an incident and obviously being upset about it, which is totally unacceptable. As a parent of a child currently at Sunny Lane, I think we derserve to know what happened and why? Alarm bells are definitely ringing.

What has this got to do with the teacher incident. I mearly expressed a comment after reading all the postings. But now you mention it, in your last e-mail to my wife you specifically requested that the issues relating to the pool be dealt with through your management company. Who we have tried to do as you know on several ocassions since mid April.

Hayran My child also goes to Sunny Lane, maybe not for long unless I hear a reasonable explanation. Why were Leyland, Ward, Allen and Hall asked to leave? Most of the children, including my son, would wanted some kind of 'rite of passage' at the last day ceremony and many others would have liked to say good-bye. Regardless of already having resigned, whatever happened to treating people with respect and dignity? Why were they asked to leave two days early, during the school day, in front of the children? Is this the professional way to deal with these kinds of issues? The same thing happened with Mr. Payne awhile back. What kind of conditions force people to abandon their students? True, I thought Payne made a bad judgment call, but knowing him, there were reasons. Explanation please....!

Poodle, I have asked that any concerned parents to make an appointment and I will meet with you personally to explain everything in detail with regards to all the teachers you have named. Surely if were genuinely concerned and would like definitive answers, then you would take up this option. I look forward to meeting you soon. Hayran
