As one of the "Famous Five" who was privileged to be part of the "Sunset Sunny Lane Speech Day", I would just like to say a huge thank you to all the students and parents who gave us an opportunity to say goodbye. And to the parents who organised it. The thought of not being able to end our association with such wonderful young people was quite distressing. It was gratifying and humbling that so many took the time to be there and it is a memory which will stay with me. So, thank you, gang. You are a lovely group of people. Don't forget that. ever.

Because nobody has the right to jeopardize a business by idle gossip and false accusations. Freedom of speach must not be confused with freedom to libel and slander. Libel laws apply to Bulletin Boards as well and Izzet as the owner of this BB can be in real danger.

I hate to get involved in this Sunny lane/Unwin business but I believe the arquments, facts, etc when posted have to be evaluted on merit by each individual subscribing to this forum. And , as you said on another linked thread, the postings have decidedly brought you on the unwins side. I therefore can conclude far from jeopardising business the threads may do them more good than bad. As the saying goes any publicity, including bad publicity, is good publicity

If you believe the gossip (or added to it), the accusations (or added to it) and the malicious postings about Sunny Lane School - subscribe your children to another school. Some children have a sad or should I say mean bunch of parents.

Or talk to the staff (just make an appointment) or talk to the school director, Mrs. Hayran. She's offered many times to listen to and discuss "the problems" in the past couple of days. Do it or shut your face - the vendetta against Sunny Lane School is a disgrace.

I agree with your msg 11.



Many people come on here and slag off a school even though they have no children whom attend it. Iddle gossip and tittle tattle get reported anonymously as fact.



What I will say in Hayrans defence is that she comes on here, posts under her own name and offers people the opportunity of making an appointment with her, Mark or one of the other members of the management. This in itself is not very common of some business in the TRNC who get bad publicity on this and other bbs.

Some of the rumours about the Unwins and Sunny Lane School especially false rumours of it closing definitely go too far, However the teacher departures are a matter of record and public interest warranting legitimate discussion.



Even before this round of resignations/ dismissals there were a lot of ex Sunny lane staff who were complaining of not being treated well or paid appropriate amounts on leaving. You can accept in some cases this may be due to disgruntled staff getting back at there ex employer, but given the commonality of complaints and numbers of such staff you can only draw the conclusion that there is some substance to this.



In my experience how an organisation or business treats its staff on departure is one of the best indicators of its business ethics and says a lot about it generally. Very good organisations are spoken of highly by the majority of their ex employees.

That's a very hyocritical statement ... with all the wild gossip, slander, libel and personal insults about various businesses (including the one I work for) I have seen on this Forum then surely, if you are right, the whole Forum should be closed. Certainly in England it would have been with huge amounts of compensation paid out.

I do not think its the actual advertising that bothers people that much, its the fact that they now seem to be able to control which posts stay and which posts go, just because they pay for advertising on the board.

To the best of my knowledge the fact that Unwins or any other firm are an advertiser on the board has never been a problem with regard to moderating posts critical of them or for that matter Sunny Lane. There has been no such edict or policy either imposed by Izzet or agreed by his unpaid moderators.



With regard to Sunny Lane threads, the circumstances and events surrounding the latest Cause Celebre are at best shall we say disputed and at worse possibly litigious.



Operating in this environment is extremely difficult, particularly as for many the true facts are not known. What is perfectly acceptable discussion over a coffee or a beer with friends is not suitable for a bulletin board I am afraid.



We the mods and Izzet are trying to be as light handed as possible, but ask for your forbearance in the circumstances.
