Hi, i am thinking of moving to TRNC in the near future and have been enquiring into the residency requirements. I heard you need to undertake a medical, and i was wandering what they test you for. I have read websites and it doesnt go into much detail, so im hoping some of you that have gone through it can tell me everything that is done,

thanks for your help,

paul

Hi Paul

The medical now is nothing more than a blood test (for I guess aids and other such diseases) and a skin reaction test for TB.

Hi AJ,

Thanks for your quick response. That sounds fine, i was under the impression it was, X-rays, blood tests, injections and all sorts of other things!

I guess they are only checking for infectious deseases, namely TB, HIV and STDs, am i right in thinking that?

Thanks again

Hiya,

The blood tests are for Hepatitis, HIV, and I believe for traces of illegal drugs. The chest x-ray is for TB and if you require a work permit they will also want a stool sample.

Yes that is correct and there is a Lab just around the corner from the Police Station that will do it all for you and it is a 'go in one day and return the next' for your results. But do not open the sealed results envelope because you will have to hand it back to the police desk intact.

Hi,

I just had a medical exam today for my residency, so i thought id let you know what it involves now (as it changes so much!)

It is simply 1 blood test

Cost is 100TL per person - You then recieve a reciept which you take to the police station.

There is one that charges 80 lira, just past the hsbc bank in girne. Coming from karaoglanoglu way driving to hsbc there is a turning to the right just after it, its just up there. Its signposted and they are really good.

Have they stopped the x-ray after the blood test?

Yes, i was expecting an x-ray aswell. But i heard law changes here all the time! So by the time the next person goes for an exam they could have introduced the x-ray again haha.

But for now, just a bloodtest.
