| Have to go into Lefkoşa (north side) this Tuesday morning with my fiance as he has something to do there, anyway thought it would be a good excuse to stay for lunch and avoid cooking at home (!) does anyone know somewhere nice to eat? A real meal at good vaue not just a snack, we always go to the small restaurant in Buyuk Han as he loves the şeftali kebab there but am bored of it now, don't want to go to 'Sabor' as we went to the one in Girne the other night and I was not impressed with the tapas, anyone know a good Turkish/Turkish Cypriot restaurant around there? Thanks a lot! Natx |

| Nat, Does it really matter what you eat or where you eat as long as your fiance is with you? Speaking from very very old experience, these are the most exiciting times, so enjoy it. My favourite place is Vasfi's Kebap place. I read in the papers that threre was a fire there about a month ago but I think they are back in business now. They specialize in Shish Köfte, that is minced meat plastered on flat sticks and cooked over charcoal. It is situated at the crossroads just opposite the Yenişehir police station. ismet |

| lol Lilli you have me sussed! Wanderer: We went to 'Meze' & sat under the 'Carlsberg' umbrellas & it was pleasant to eat out-side. We had a really lovely meal, you are right, good service & excellent menu! We had the mixed cold meze to share with lovely warm flat bread, it consisted of hummous, tzatziki, a spicy sauce, cous cous salad, dolma, etc then fried calamari & a lovely salad & sauce and some 'sigara böreği' -fresh pastry filled with soft cheese & herbs and shaped like a cigarette/cigar hence the name! It was very, very nice & to follow Turkish coffee, very filling & delicious! Thanks for the recommendation! PS For all book lovers there is a great, old, big, book shop with loads of English books stacked up high, on the way to the centre, it has many old novels & lots of books & maps of Cyprus, including a book called 'Getting A Life in North Cyprus' written by an English couple who moved here & all their funny dramas settling in! Also dictionaries & language books.
