I've got a mouse one in my garage but I didn't know it also works for ants ?

The human range is 20,000 dbels and above that animals are affected but whether ants are affected I've no idea.

I have the top of the range one for spiders - they love it!!! Given up on all the ultra sonic's, I think the little blighters wear ear defenders now due to EU rules!!!

Lobylud,

Just a small correction if I may. Decibel is a measure of sound, how loud it is. Hz. (Hertz) or kHz. (kiloHertz) is the rate of vibration, in other words how low or high pitched the sound is. A person like me will not hear anything above 15,000 Hz. or 15 KHz. but much younger people can hear up to 20 KHz. The animals can hear much higher pitches, hence it disturbs them without disturbing us humans.

We had them when we lived in France and they proved absolutely useless. As Waddo says the little blighters probably wear ear defenders.

I bought two from bid up tv as I was infested with ants in my conservatory. They have two settings, one for small insects and a bigger one for cats and dogs. They worked like magic and I have.nt seen an ant since.

I would be interested if anyone could confirm whether these do work for ants, and which equipment was used. Ants drive me mad, a real pet hate of mine and I would be buying one if they actually worked!!

Thinker,

The ants are never a problem for us. We have some sort of white powder which we use occasionally and it clears them off. So its their problem, not mine. If you are after ultrasonics, presumably you must have one for the upper range for small insects. As the animal gets smaller, it becomes more sensitive to higher pitches.

Hi Elko, I have the white powder but have a young child who is into everything, so wary about using this around our place!!! I have them under control but occassionally they do raise their little heads (usually when my other half forgets to put out the rubbish!!) and they drive me nuts! Thanks for the info though, appreciated xx
