We have just had a phone call from a Cypriot friend, who was charged 17 tl for two Turkish coffees and a bottle of water at a local beach in Catalkoy on Saturday!!!

I would not even attempted to have anything to drink there. Went there 3 weeks ago and the toilets were absolutly filthy, I have seen many dirty toilets in NC but nothing like these.

Could have been worse , might have been a tourist family enjoying their first trip here.

Why dont the tourist authorities put up big signs alongside the avdverts for NC. Along the lines of 'dont bother,we dont want you'

Sounds pretty reasonable to me. Coffee 6TL, Water 5TL - Go to the touristy places and expect to pay!

I would never go back to Diana Beach on principle.

We drove down...off season...just to have a look around and walk along the beach.

I was told that I had to pay to "use" the beach even though we did not want a sun lounger or a parasol !

I thought beaches were public spaces and free to use....but the argumentative staff said I was wrong.

The beach was untidy and the sunbeds and parasols had seen better days....rusty and ripped.

The attitude of the staff stank.....if it had been in the UK I would have stood my ground.. but you can't be too careful in TRNC.

Now you have mentioned that the prices are a rip-off....I hope they get the visitor numbers they deserve !
