I'm sure we have all posted something and noticed a mistake or said something - that one might regret..

I keep asking for a button that would allow us to edit spelling mistakes or other posts - say for a period of up to 24 hours from posting - as with many forums..

WHY?

I've just posted something with a url link that was wrong and noticed that quotes within "<< >> " were missing making my msg / post even more unintelligible or irrelevant than normal ;)

msgs 25/27 - can they be deleted ?

Thx

I think the lack of an 'edit/delete' button is a jolly good idea!

It should make you think twice about those 'knee-jerk' posts which you later regret.

Especially after a bottle of Chankaya,.... or two!

re msg 7

"It should make you think twice about those 'knee-jerk' posts which you later regret. "

Do you mean,

"It should make *ONE* think twice about those 'knee-jerk' posts which you later regret.

'YOU' as in non-specific general plural.

Not an individual slur on your personal posts.

Though it does appear you are the poster most often requesting 'editing' on your posts.

Why not write out your posts on “Word”, review, spell check then copy and paste?

Just as quick and at least the spullings will be corecct........

Hi Chegwin

good point !

When posting quotes - and some urls.. you don't know they won't come out - until it's too late ..some of the coding that works in word does not translate to a successful post on here :(

Dear AJ, re msg 13

Sorry, but you'll have to *read* what IS posted before responding - and therefore demonstrating lack of attention ! .. ;)

IF I put a quote in "<< >>" it disappears when I hit post - but it is THERE before I post ... All that is left is the "<< >>"

I kind of like the thinks the way they are. It demonstrates the fallibility in us all, well most of us ! (mmmmmm)and actually gives life and personality to the posters.

I'm getting paranoid now, must have read my post a dozen plus times and I just know something is (has) got to be rong.

Tricksy things those Oirish Keyboards!!

What you're doing is confusing < (left angle bracket or less than sign) and conversely > (right angle bracket or greater than sign) with apostrophe or single quote, (') or quotation marks or double quotes. (").

At least your colon appears healthy!

Dear RobnJo msg 18

Bog moi ( My God) !!

I'm actually using a Dual US Keyboard with Cyrillic character overlays..and the current setting is Eng UK in XP ;)

I'm certainly not confusing the << >> with the " or ' ..

Let's try a demo ... I'm going to place part of your sentence - At least your colon appears healthy! - in inverted comma quotes first

"At least your colon appears healthy! "

and now the << >>

<>

I will now post - and we'll see if both cut and pastes appear !

AHA! .. you see - the sentence in the << >> never appeared ..

Now let's try putting it in >> <<

>>At least your colon appears healthy! <<
