Are these available over the counter at pharmacies in TRNC like antibiotics are? Or do you need prescription as in UK? If so, how much are they?

You can buy them over the counter but I'm not sure how much they cost. Shouldn't be too expensive though as they only cost pennies in the UK pharmacies to buy from suppliers! Let me know if you get sorted as i may be able to help.

Thanks guys. booitsme, as you say they may only cost pennies but NHS prescription charges in the UK soon racks up the cost so I was thinking of maybe buying some when we are next over if it's worthwhile.

millzer, I had a prepayment certificate (not worth it if you're only on one or two meds) and a user friendly doctor who very kindly gave me 6 month supply when I explained we were coming out here as I wasn't sure of the set up. Maybe you could persuade your G.P. to prescribe a few months worth, some will go up to 3 months supply if you have to pay for your prescriptions. If you get even 2 items each month I think the prepayment certificate might save you some money. It costs around £28.00 for 3 months and that covers every script you get, be it from G.P., dentist or even (god forbid) hospital. You can buy on line and are covered from that date. If you have had items in the last 28 days you can back date it to the day you got your last supply. Hope this helps to save a few pennies but if you do get stuck I could spare a couple as my asthma has improved dramatically since we've been here

Hi boots and thanks for the advice and your very kind offer. Mine tends to be hay fever related so I don't suffer all year and don't need them that often but my last one is almost out and its a hassle going through GP's rigmarole to get one again hence why i thought i could buy one over the counter when there. You keep the ones you have for yourself, but thank you again for your generosity.
