Good website Marky. When things finally get settled in Cyprus it would be interesting to take a stroll down to the Land Registry to discover whether either Taylor or Maginnis actually paid for "their" properties - I believe they have three between them. Perhaps the NI media should be doing a bit of digging. A peer of the realm being given a war victim's property would outshine the latest expenses saga.

A lot of people took advantage of buying cheap property in the north prior to the boom even with Turkish title. Wrong really taking advantage of price slump because of the situation, some people choose when or when not to claim the moral high ground !!

85000 bargain visitors last year and with the healthy Lira this years figures should again see a marked improvement. Albeit with the current recession and the requirement to pull in the purse strings. Perhaps one or two more will decide to locate to a more affordable paradise on the eastern mediteranean, especially when the floods and the big freeze begins to chill the bones.

ilovekibris (do you?) 'When things finally get settled in Cyprus it would be interesting to take a stroll down to the Land Registry to discover whether either Taylor or Maginnis actually paid for "their" properties - I believe they have three between them.' Unfortunately my friend there is a lot of evidence that will surface over the next month or two that will prove that a significant amount of TC title deeds have been altered/falsified etc in the South and I have seen evidence of this corruption. Tell me why there is a problem in the South allocating title deeds?

Dear AJ re msg 8 May be you have missed my posts re the LR deeds farce in the RoC? .. It is not dissimilar to that of the "TRNC" .. Most deeds are not issued if the land is 1/ still mortgaged 2 / still not a planning control issue cleared up The UK Commonwealth and Foreign Office also warned folk re buying properties in the RoC, too You might have missed the bit were I said buying used - with deeds - isn't a problem The ECHR has been satisfied that the RoC land Registry records were the basis for proving ownership in 74 IF it turns out there has been mass shenanigans then the RoC higher moral ground will be totally eroded .. IF there has been evidence of skulduggery, isn't it strange it has taken SO long to appear? Why has a GC acquaintance of mine - living in "refuge" status housing in Episkopi - no doubt on TC land - been - correctly - refused deeds all these years - no right to sell on privately?

Hi AJ, can I take it you are keeping your "poeder" dry ? ;) But perhaps you can explain to the ex British forces guys - married to a GC "refugee" - why they can't get normal deeds ( they can't sell the property for private gain - only to another "refuge Status" person - and why they can't secure loans against "their" Refugee status deeds? We both know it's because it is an example of the RoC not allowing TC land to be sold for private gain - even if it HAS been used to build housing - as their were far more folk than houses in the "south" post 74
