The President of the Cyprus Turkish Fighters Association Vural Turkmen has complained that the Greek Cypriot Administration is still continuing a dominatory approach in support of ENOSIS at the negotiation process.

In a written statement yesterday, Mr. Turkmen said the Greek Cypriot side’s latest demands on territory and its opposition to the existence of the TRNC as a sovereign state had strengthened their conviction that it will not be possible to find a just and lasting solution to the Cyprus problem.

He said that the Society is cautious about President Mehmet Ali Talat’s insistence not to leave the table for the sake of not being the side quitting the talks, in spite of the Greek Cypriot side’s attitude.

He claimed that the President is continuing to pump hope to the Turkish Cypriot people and that he is abstaining from defending the Turkish Cypriot Side’s sine qua nons which are the basis of the sovereign existence of the TRNC State.

He noted that the Society does not recognize and trust any other guarantor power than Turkey.

Will someone give the geezer a nudge and tell 'im that the GCs forgot about Enosis when they realised they would be in the EU ... and the Greeks - the real ones - were quite glad...

They concentrated on building bridges with TR..

it is going to be awkward to disengage from the talks process, however worthless

perhaps it will finally be laid to rest only when talat finishes his term and is then not replaced

otherwise there is the chance that downer makes his final "heave" for xmas as suggested

even though of course neither turks nor greeks actually celebrate december 25th officially:

there might really be something to celebrate if some kind of neighbourly outcome was in sight

what has always stymied this last try to settle the dispute,

is how little authority the technical experts really have to cobble a deal:

by and large international agreements that stick are usually all decided beforehand

and the statesmen only meet properly at the end for the signing ceremony

another significant event due in december is turkey has its eu bid rejected:

they will draw the appropriate conclusions...

we have all of us on cyprus 44 been led up the garden path over this talks charade

Dear Andre_514

re msg 5

As, is you want - you have allowed your wish for things to remain as they are on "north" Cyprus to cloud your judgement..

>>by and large international agreements that stick are usually all decided beforehand <<

OH, yes? .. Well I can give you examples - Ireland(s) - for example - where the catalyst was outside pressure from the US - pressure that broke ( down) through intransigence from all players.

>>another significant event due in december is turkey has its eu bid rejected: << I hope you'll be as inaccurate as your sentence is grammatical flawed ;)

Even IF TR's bid is rejected - TR is STILL a member of the Council of Europe - subject to ECHR rulings...

>>we have all of us on cyprus 44 been led up the garden path over this talks charade <<

Historically, you aren't even on firm ground.. the talks aren't what counts - the wishes of Cypriots ARE...
