Have heard that some people here take tablets to replace body salt/minerals lost in the very hot weather. Does anyone know the name of them and approx cost ? I was advised to drink Aryan instead but just cannot get on with it. Thanks

If you go into the Catalkoy Chemist he sells tubes of the tablets, but shop around because prices do vary, we find the girl chemist next to Lemar opposit Flippers chip shop as cheap as any. Good Luck Nick

I would think very carefully before taking salt tablets. As I understand it it is virtually impossible to lose sufficient salt to require them unless you are running marathons etc and the slat tablet idea is largely out of favour. The Cypriot and most western diets are very high in salt any its more than likely the average persons consumes too much salt and has higher than ideal blood pressure despite any losses from sweating. It would be advisable to get your blood pressure tested and seek good medical advice before choosing to take salt tablets as you are far more likely to do harm than good. Aussie

100% Aussie I couldn't agree with you more. I was called to a patient last summer who was drinking re-hydration powders as if they were going out of fashion (deorylite). had to take her to Girne hospital she was really ill. As long as you drink lots of water you should have no problems. All you need is the normal amount of salt you would take in your diet anyway. Chris

Ok thanks everyone. Went to catalkoy chemist and they no longer sell the salt tablets - they said should take Diarolyte instead. Not too keen on that idea (apart from being v expensive) so will keep trying the Aryan - maybe mix some mint or something to it. Or back to the traditional Indian drink- fresh Sweet Lime Soda - if i can find the limes. Thanks
