Best place to start is Girne Hospital I have noticed when I have been down there are lots of child and baby clinics there.

Tuncevic? on the Bellapais road, child doctor there. Child needs a couple of extra injections here. Take UK baby book/ Medical card with you. Doc gives you a prescription and you go to the chemist, pick it up and go back to doc for injections. They do MMR here, same as UK.

I've taken my son to the Lapta clinic (near the secondary school) on a Thursday when they have their children's clinic in the morning. He'd already had all he needed back in the UK so only needed a Hepatitis B shot which they did for 7tl - much cheaper than a private doctor but can be a little daunting as they don't speak much English (so a good chance to practise your Turkish ;-) )

It's on the main VILLAGE road, the one that runs through Alsancak to Lapta. If you follow that road, you turn left just before the big secondary school in Lapta (if coming from Alsancak direction) and then you'll see it 100m on left - Lapta saglik merkezi (health centre). Hope that makes sense!

They were immunising at Lapta clinic until a week or two ago - now there is no doctor (Dr Huseyin Bey) there anymore and you have to face the madness of Girne hospital. Most jabs are free but there a quite a few that aren't - my son is 7 months and is due a jab next week - but Im gonna wait until I go back to UK as I can't face the Hospital - its ok there but you have to get there very early - 7am and could wait for hours to see a doctor. The private hospitals will do jabs but think the prices are about 140tl. Hope that helps T

Thanks Treesy - we did Girne hospital for her 1st jab and then decided to go private after that as it was a very long and drawn out episode for a tiny baby. Someone suggested we tried Lapta - oh well we will just have to carry on with the private dr then. Thx for the advice
