Did anyone had his/her eyes checked for the need of (new) reading glasses recently? I'm looking for an Ophtalmologist in Girne. I know the Cyprus Eye Clinic", but I would prefer another choice. Thank you for your replies.

I'm afraid that "Did anyone had etc" should be "Did anyone have etc"... Whatever: back to the top...

On a more serious note,.. I have had eye tests every few years as reading 'small print' becomes more of a problem.

Every time I am told that my eyesight has changed and I need new presciption glasses. Funnily enough they always seem to require more expensive lenses,.. only available in 'Designer frames'!

The cynic in me concludes opticians are commercial businesses, not 'healthcare professionals'.

I have resorted to buying 'off the shelf' reading glasses for just a few £s from local shops and find them more than adequate.

At that price, you don't worry about sitting on them, or losing them.

DC. You could not do better than to visit Dr. Guvenir in Lefkosa. His office is almost opposite the Lefkosa State Hospital. You pass the hospital and come back on yourself at the small roundabout as if going back to Girne. There is a large chemist at which you turn left and his office is signposted from there. His phone number is 05338673333. Hope this helps. He is an Opthalmic Surgeon not not an Optician.

Hans. Have just noticed you asked for Girne. If you dont want to travel all the way to Lefkosa, there is a very good Opthalmologist who has a practice in the Celiker Hospital, Upper Kyrenia. Knows what he`s talking about.
