me and mr bogey called in for breakfast and have got to say it was fantastic while there we noticed on saturday and sunday they do traditional kleftico. we went last night and it was the best kleftico we have had. so much so we have booked for today. you get a warm welcome from staff and owners and nothing is too much for them. once you have finished and paid up they thank you and appreciate your custom. beer 4tl pint local spirits with mixer 5tl kleftico 20tl. i am doing everyone on this forum a favour by pointing this place out it is worth giving it a go

I agree with the previous posters that the Ravine Bar is the leader in terms of friendliness, service, quality, and quantity.

For those with slightly smaller appetites, I would also recommend the RAVIDA, a bit more towards Lapta, on the same side. Smaller portions, but a bit cheaper (cheaper still as a take-away), nice salad, with bread and oil/balsamic dip included in price.

I use both places, it just depends how ravenous I am at the time!

Keith.

Have to agree with the ravine, Mr Britvic and myself went to Mambos one morning for breakfast and were told the lady who cooks the breakfast had gone shopping! However the Gentleman their suggested the Ravine, thanks for that, freshly cooked, and very nice. Also the Ravada, fish and chips and a salad (complimentary) with bread and oils, also after the meal nuts and olives, again complimentary are brought to the table.

Kleftico, fish and chips and red Thai curry, all fabulous at the Ravine. I dont think theres a friendlier or more welcoming barman on the island than Kenan.

Always recommend the Ravine - but don't have the 'chicken cordon bleu', it was disgusting, even the cats turned their noses up at it. Love their Sunday lunches, always far too much for me and they never charge us for coffees if we have a meal, top notch service too.

LOvegod,

Meal for 4 at Hoots last night (Saturday) - every dish mouth watering, perfectly cooked and flavoured.

A unique courtyard setting that I wish I could re-create!

Would recommend it to Egon Ronay...

Keith.

dave,

I don't see the problem - if I want cheap fish and chips, cooked to perfection, I either go to Ravine or Rivada, depending on how hungry I am.

If I am in the mood to treat myself and 'significant other' to some 'haute cuisine', I go somewhere that caters accordingly - and that definitely includes Guido's, amongst others...

I have always found Liz and Guido supportive of other local businesses - they're not stupid, they don't expect anyone to eat at their place every night, we all like variety, and they know it.

So please, either state clearly what your problem is, or leave it alone - as my old Mum said "If you can't say good about folk, say NOWT"

Kind regards,

Keith.

Keith - very well put, if I may say so.

As you rightly say, it's all about what you fancy to eat at the time. We enjoy Guido's very much, but are just as happy on other occasions to eat at the local Kebab House up in Alsancak village. Very different food/places but both very enjoyable.
