We will be visiting for 2 weeks in august, staying in Dogankoy. Can anyone please advise the best way of bringing spending money? Also, while I've been told we are close to Girne, is there anything in the way of bars, restuarants, supermarkets etc in that area? This is our first visit so any help or advice would be much appreciated, Thanks all, Jane

Hi higgy, There is a large Lemar supermarket within walking distance of Dogankoy. There are also bars and restaurants to visit. I am sure you could walk into Girne with ease. The butlers wife

Thanks for the replies. We don't really want to bring all cash, what about cards? For instance, in Crete last year, the cheapest way was to use an abbey credit card and draw cash as needed from ATM's. Any ideas?

Credit cards are perfectly fine, but check with your bank to make sure you don't get charged a fee for using it. Then withdraw pounds from an atm, then change at one of the many boothes. Hope this is helpful to you. DD

Higgi, When I go to Cyprus I take cash, credit cards and I also use my ATM card (HSBC), the cash is dispensed in local the currency YTL and the rate when I was there last was very good, this also ensures that you change what you need and do not need to change any surplus back into sterling. It also means you are not carrying loads of cash around. Good luck, hope you enjoy your holiday. Alex.
