Anyone know where I can get a Russian computer keyboard? I imagine I'll need some software too for the Cyrilic (?) alphabet?

| Hi "TRNC" re msg 1 Plently of places to buy one in Limas(s)ol Rapitcal Computers on the sea front road between the "tourist area" and the Holiday Inn.. it is the last building on the left for 0.75 km as you head west toward Limas(s)ol . Leave the Paphos highway - and head to the sea - south- and turn right after 1 km - when you hit the T junction at the traffic lights - Raptical are the last building on the left. | Hi mmmmmmmmm, Thanks for that. I've just been told we can "convert" an English language keyboard into Ru by sticking Cyrilic symbols on the keys and changing the computer language to Ru. Do you know if that is OK or less than adequate? |

Dear "TRNC" YES, you can load the RU lang and use "stickers" on the keyboard and swap languages ALT+ShiFT. We found it a pain and bought a proper keyboard... Just be careful when signing in on line - when you kep being told your password is wrong ..... you may be entering Cyrillic characters )) ... I've done it loads of times.. and the bank think it's hackers ) MY Step son can type in Russian with a UK keyboard !!

There you go, an opportunity for a bilingual entrepreneur, importing Russian key boards to the TRNC. I would start off with a hundred and see how it goes. Lots of Russians here students as well who I'm sure would be interested. Keep the profit margin down and they should 'fly off the shelves'! Is there a dual keyboard, qwerty & Russian? That would be the one to go for if it exsists. Good luck someone! Richard

Dear Brinsley >>Is there a dual keyboard, qwerty & Russian?<< I am using a "US" QWERTY Keyboard - and the Cyrillic keys are in red - ether to the upper/ lower right of each relevant key button. The " and @ are in different places to a UK Keyboard and the £ ( GBP) is a hash .. I'm using ENG UK in Windows. >>an opportunity for a bilingual entrepreneur, importing Russian key boards to the TRNC. I would start off with a hundred and see how it goes<< I guess the local entrepreneurs know something about the "boom" in Russian speakers needing these keyboards that we don't ? .... There were at least three places in Limas(s)ol selling ЙЦУКЕН Ru/ Eng Qwerty Keyboards..

Hi TRNCVaughan, you do not need to buy a russian keyboard, my wife is russian and uses my standard english keyboard , she writes the russian word and then she uses a clever little internet site to convert it into traditional russian. I will email the link when I get home from work later. best regards Craig

Hi TRNCVaughan, I bought one on ebay for about £12 and it arrived from the Uk in 5 days. Its much easier than trying to put stickers over the EN keyboard. Simply plugs into the USB port

Why not obtain software that allows you to type in English and automatically converts into Russian. I know there is software available for most languages ??. I understand from users that some words do not convert to conversational or in the correct medium sometimes.

Dear Mike re msg 20 This may be for a Russian speaker wanting to type Cyrillic characters ! If you have ever tried the translation software - even pro ones costing 00's of GBP you'd realise how USELESS translation software is :(

Software converters are rubbish. They might be useful only if you type a couple a words once a year. If you have a laptop "stick" with stickers. Now you have to spend one minute to install your second language support (either for stickers or a new keybord) Windows XP: Open control panel, Regional and Language Options - Languages- Details Click Add to open a drop-down list, then select Russian or any other language. Then click on Language Bar and select the check box "Show the language bar on the desktop". Now you can always see on your taskbar En or RU and switch whenever you want by left clicking on them or ALT+SHIFT. Scythian, ну где ж он тебе селёдку достанет? Лучше заказывай серого г
